Notica that on every american channel, there isnt one negative comment on the war. I believe that american television DOES equal propaganda, like it or not.
First off there is the kind of propaganda that is to show how good and important the war is to the people of whatever country the american troops are fighting in, this is seen in some,if not all, news reports. Oh, and lets not forget shows like the o'reilly factor and whatnot.
Secondly, there is the twisting of the truth, or manipuation if you will. This is to make the "good side" look like its winning when actually it isnt. This is a little exampl (NOTE, the following text is entirely fictionnal, im just using it to prove a point); Lets take two countrys, say France and the united states because for some reasons americans dont seem to be very fond of them these days. The two countrys decide to go head to head in a bike race, the winner is France. Later that day, American television stations cover the story and say this;"Earlier today, a breathtaking bicycle race was disputed. The french had a deceiving before last place while the americans took a spectacular second place!"
Its just that easy.

How would you know, you live in canada. There is plenty of negative comments about teh war on TV but you just have your head too far up your ass to see them.

You might want to try some grammar and punctuation to make it look like you make more sense next time. And can you show me some examples of this proporganda or are you just making up the facts as you go along. It also seems like the only TV news show you know about is the O' Rielly factor because there are plenty of liberal shows to.

Outside of Fox News (the most biased news channel in the history of news), most news channels are just brown nosers. Sucking up to whatever the flavor of the term is. When Clinton was in office, you had propaganda favoring the liberals. You now have Bush in office and the propaganda is favoring the conservatives. I look at the news and wonder what they are not telling us. I look at the internet and I get all sorts of opinionated answers (you can call that an oxymoron if you want).
Right now there are more conservatives on news TV than liberals, but that's not to say there's no liberals. There are. Just none on Fox News.

I dunno what I think about all the propaganda on televison. On one hand, we have horrible lies about body counts and undercover agents being discoved under enemy lines, but then escaping single handedly.
On the other hand, we now have some top notch entertainment....Just sit down with your buddies, have a beer and laugh your head off at how "american" the american stations are, and how "Iraqi" the Iraqi stations are.
The reason why american propaganda is so abundant (at least here) is because that is what is going to sell. If you can get away with telling half the story and get paid in full, then why not.
One of the little pet peeves about this war was about the prisoners of war. All over CNN you hear the story about the 19 yr old solider taken capture by Iraqi troops!!! It apparently took a crack team of marines to save the day and the defenceless 19 yr old from the barbaric, woman beating, Iraqi troops.....Now let me ask you a question, have you heard about Iraqi P.O.W's being treated badly, no way...because there are none! American soliders are told not take POW's because if they took Pow's, they would have rights under the genevia convention that would interfear with "extracting infromation" from them, so as a result unregistered prisoners are taken, so they can do what they need to get infromation.
But Realy, I think we should remember that americans are true to americans, Iraqi's are true to Iraqi's and thats why we even have a war.(to over simplify)

We have so few of our own Channels that you can count the companies that own them on one hand- CanWest(Global, Star, ect), Chumcity(CityTV, all the New** 's ,all the Music Channels, ect.) and CBC (The offical Canadian Channel run by the Canadian Government- CBC, CBC News are the only ones i can think of)
So you see, we don't have all that much options- we can watch about a hundred American TV channels or we can watch a dozen or so Canadian Channels. But your head was shoved too far up your ass to make any kind of factual basis for your opinion, was there?

Okay, here a nice example, and true to the word- two weeks ago, 250 Iraqi's went up to a School and demanded that the Americans find other shelter, since they wanted their children to attend school.(the Irony of the situation of troops in the same place that the American Government were calling foul about with the Iraqis- troops in the schools and hospitals- seemed to be lost on them) - Somehow, a firefight broke out. Not one American was injured, while 15 Iraqi's died and 53 were injured.(of course, its reasonable to have soldiers shoot up a group of civilians if they sense danger- it doesn't matter if in order to be in danger, you would expect some kind of American Injury to start it if the Iraqis started it, right? But then again, they used the same kind of force riot police use now a days- lets not use sheilds and pepper spray/riot gas- lets use machine guns into a crowd) and what kind of label did these Iraqis reveice for wanting to go to school?
"Anti-American protest"
thats right. I watched this on CBS, and they didn't bother to mention the useless facts like why the Iraqi's were there, and what they wanted- they just said that Anti-Americans approched Americans and a can of whoop ass was opened, and 15 died.....

That's BS. I'm not going to even try to defend the American media. But it isn't all propoganda and ads. I've seen more than a few anti-war news stories on the local TV stations.
I live in the DC metro.

I'm not even going to bother with this. It's conjecture. Hearsay.
Since an entirely fictional essay is the basis of your arguement, all I have to say is come back with a real example.

He said news, that means all news. Plus if he lives in quebec (which is says in his profile) he wouldnt have the same as you.

I said he has his head up his ass for not seeing the negative comments not for living in canada.

The grammar is so next time people can actually understand what he writes. And First, in USA the conservatives are jsut moderate liberals. Second there is joe scarborough, jessie venture (who is coming soon), kieth olberman, maria bartiromo (even though she is on CNBC she still talks fairly liberal), and almost everyone with a talk show is liberal.
Once again do you have ANY examples of this or are you just making up what you claim to be the truth.Once again, please prove your own point before complaining to someone for NOT proving theirs.
I offered evidence, he didnt.

First, tear gas and pepper spray are illegal to use because they count as chemical weapons, and the school was out of bounds because it was filled with Iraqi weapons which are illegal for us to take out of there to put into another place, we can only destroy them which takes time. And what does this have to do with the news, when I saw this on CNN they never mentioned that the school was filled with weapons or the some IRaqi's had AK-47's.
"Anti-American protest"
thats right. I watched this on CBS, and they didn't bother to mention the useless facts like why the Iraqi's were there, and what they wanted- they just said that Anti-Americans approched Americans and a can of whoop ass was opened, and 15 died.....
When I saw this on MSNBC they showed a soldier yelling profanities at Iraqi's and basicallymade it seem as if all the troops hate Iraqi's for no reason.

Do you watch the news Jim? The news does not give direct negative opinions on the war. They may use sarcastic lines in their reporting but they don’t want to get banned or something for not being “Patriotic”. Their ratings would plummet. The news shouldn’t even give opinions they should state the facts.

Let it be known that last time I checked jimsween had absolutely no interest in joining the DAG
Furthermore, there are plenty of non-prowar media outlets. The reality is that any major news network realizes that the viewer isnt going to want to watch anything that makes them feel guilty for being an american. Thats why to the casual onlooker it seems like there is no anti-war sentiment in the media, even though there have been quite a few inflammator anti-war reports. (IE Little Ali, with no arms and legs due to bombing, and the US firing into protestors, both on CNN)

One thing that pisses me off is when people refer to the Media as proproganda- it IS bias, and only shows their side in a postive outlook as much as they can, but that isn't controled by the government or 'moral watchdogs' - its controlled by bisness men and women who are in the industry of Television, News broadcasting, Newspapers, ect. for one thing- to make MONEY. And how many people do you think would watch an American show that explained that America is horrible based on its history? That America has killed Millions of Iraqi's? That Americans are going over there solely for the oil and votes? That Media outlet would lose veiwers. Advertisers would not want to be related to the opinions of the alterative news source. And pretty soon, these people who went into the industry to make money lose it all cause they had a tiny little fact like having facts for both sides. If they go against the Captial in their show, then they would be seen as Anti-American and Unpatriotic, and would lose all veiwers who strongly believe in their nation.
Its horrible that a side of the story is nearly disreguarded in order to make money, but in a world were the only relgion acceptable to everyone nationwide is the religion of ecconmy, what can we do?

Really because just last night I heard fox news (of all news stations) say that the US isnt working hard enough at rebuilding Iraq. And during the war I heard CNN say that the Iraqi soldiers were putting up heavy resistance and our progress was slow.

Your argument makes no sense, they got rid of twelve words that only described where the people were. How does this change anything, newspapers have editors and stuff like this happerns all the time so why bother to elaborate about it. I dont seewhy the government would want to make it so people dont know where a crime happened.

I realized that fact but that doesnt explain his lack of capitalization and adding uneeded letters to a word like medaij. And despite the fact he is from another country you cant expect your opinions to be taken seriously by people who cant even understand what your trying to write.

by foreign diplomats and employees of the world bank or the international monetary fund...
-14 words where deleted the most imporatnt thing who
committed these crimes shortly after this a bill was introduced to stop these atrocities. it was the most vitale piece of information that got deleted does this not show that goverment controls media and the media is their to show the present goverment under a spotlight of good.
