Or 2% worse, depending on how we look at it.

No, no no no ... NO!
In the book "the origin of species" written by darwin, he never stated that man evolved from apes. This is truly false.

Well you cant really be a christian and believe in evolution because it goes against the creationist theory, therefore you are not a christian

A pretty bad explanation of creationism.
Also you didn't have to tell me your an atheist really it doesn't help your argument.
Anyway just to put things with what you typed-
You can make a metaphor that Adam and Eve is the beginning of civilized man.
(Being opened minded of course.)
Incest does not mean you'll have a retarded child. Is it possible? Yes we all know it is! But thats biology/genetics.
So yeah, theres more to creationism then what you posted, didn't even mention the 7 day deal-e-o, etc.
Wut?

Actually I think you're right, but the difference is that it's not Adam and Eve we're talking about here.
Creationism, as I understand it, means that you don't believe in a steady state, or the big bang, or evolution, or even intelligent design (because intelligent design uses the mechanism of evolution.) Creationists believe that, sometime last Thursday, God did it all. All of it. Poof. Adam, Eve, dogs, cats, fish, water, sky, sun, stars. Poof.
Anyway: I've seen good arguments against evolution, but sadly, as Drakim said, most of it is based on terminal stupidity, blind faith, and amazing ignorance, not unlike arguments against homosexuality.

Would you happen to be gay? Because that was kinda irrelevant.

And I could use science/biology to explain how homosexuality can technically be considered a mental disorder. But then i'd be called a homophobic despite what the science says.
I believe it's called hypocracy.

well that depends on who you ask. some people my believe the 'big bang' was caused by god.
some people say that the 7 days it took god to make the universe could really be any length of time because we do not know what a day for god is.

If you truly could show your arguments with science and biology, then I wouldn't call you homophobic, and I would defend you against those who did (even if I might not agree with your arguments directly). The problem lies in that just about everybody that argues against homosexuality do it because their holy scripture doesn't approve of it. And their main body of arguments tends to be stuff like "it is wrong! it goes against nature! God hates fags! ect."

I wouldn't call you a homophobe for that. A homophobe is someone who doesn't even bother to look up the science, and argues with hate instead of evidence.

Yes, and my girlfriend believes this too. However, I wouldn't consider her a creationist, because this version of creationism doesn't involve shouting about how wrong evolution is.
Anyway, I think the original poster's question has been answered. The things between us and monkeys are dead. All of them. Because we didn't come from monkeys. Monkeys came from the same thing we did.
I like to tell people who say that "I didn't come from no monkey" that actually, they're on level ground with monkeys ^^
