Was the person who told you that an Evangelical Christian? Did they say that in the context of a religious, or "end of the world" discussion? Or was it possibly someone who is likely to spout out Zionist conspiracy theories?

Because in reality Israel is entirely dependent on the US for their economic, political, and military position. They couldn't be the most powerful country in the mind of a rational person.

However, if someone was discussing something as abstract as "the favor of God" or conversely "the wrath of the evil Zionists who control the world" then it MIGHT make sense to those types of people that Israel could dominate the world.

I think they're the most dominant military power in the Middle East, but definately not the world. They have no means of power projection, they can really only mobilize regionally in any significant way.

Agreed. (Isreal is fairly well optimized for desert warfare, has a decent air force and a small navy. The last time any middle country or group of countries invaded Israel they got their asses kicked.)

A. the country's surrounding Israel don't a military worth shit.
B. Israel actually trains their soldiers decently.
C. Israel is a small country surrounded by larger more powerful countries.
D. Israel doesn't exactly have the capability to deploy to other countries.
E. Israel may or may not have nuclear weapons. (They probably do. So they might be a nuclear power.. whatever. Nukes are stupid. The swiss figured that out mighty fast).
