Urbina sentenced to prison in Venezuela
I still remember this dude in the World Series in 2003 kissing "Pudge" Rodriguez after they won games. Must be a latin thing. But anyways, this dude is getting a raw deal. I highly suggest reading this article also, seems like people really like fucking with him and his family (father killed in an attempted robbery, mother kidnapped by drug dealers). And from what I have gathered, extortion seems like it is pretty common down in South America so I wouldnt be suprised if this is just a money grab. Now I just want to make a few points to prove this.
1) "What we want is justice, for him to pay with jail time," said Ricardo Osal, who needed 300 stitches to close wounds on his back and another 150 to repair severed tendons in his hands. "We're not looking for any type of financial arrangement. Nothing that has anything to do with money. We don't want them to offer us any money and we're not asking them for any money.
Yet. . .
But Wuanyer Perez, the attorney for the accusers, told ESPN that "justice has been served" and indicated that his clients will seek damages in civil court.
This is extortion and a money grab. Plain and simple.
2) Urbina had ample chance to kill these men if he indeed intended to kill them. Why didnt he?
3) Urbina could have fled the country, he was not arrested for 3 weeks. Whats up with that? And its not like the USA would have handed him back over considering our relations with Venezula now. If he was guilty of the crimes, why did he stick around?
I just feel real bad for this dude. I mean, Im sure its possible he did it but God damn, this all seems rather fishy. And now he is going to spend 14 years in a Venezulan prison if his sentence is not overturned. On top of that I bet their prison system isnt exactly a safe place to be for anyone, let alone a rich, famous, successful man.
Poor Urbina : (

Hes a baseball player from Venezula. A very good closer, has been in a few All Star games and won a World Series ring with the Marlins in 2003.

I say he deserves it. He poured gasoline on the victims in attempt to set them on fire.
Yeah, i feel sorry for him, but i think his ass got what it deserves.

When I tried to click the link it took me to ESPN but all I got was a "Page Not Found" error. Is that just me or is EPSN fucked up?
Either way, if this dude really did poor gas on people and try to light them on fire then fuck it, let him rot in jail.

I think it was just you.
Anyways, I still think Urbina is getting a raw deal. I by no means know the truth here but it just seems like this is bull to me. If he wanted to kill them, why are they all still alive? If they didnt want money, why are they going to sue him now? If he was guilty, why didnt he skip the country? Just to many whys for me to handle.

Innocent untill proven guilty.
Hopefully he will get a competent and fair trial.
