4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsWell i have a 60g external hard drive that i bought recently and my friend thought it would be real fuckin funny to try and password protect it so i couldnt get it (obviously not gunna work). So anywayse he downloaded some random probably unsafe programs to my computer AND put them on my X drive...Well now every time i go to plug in my hard drive...NOT only does it not show up as being plugged in, but all my programs lock up and if i open something new it crashes. Yes i know it sounds like it has a virus...But no, we pluged it in to another computer and it works FINE, we even scanned the hell out of it...Nothing, well i scanned my computer too so nothing has viruses...It has to be something he did with the programs...I have limited details about everything so here's some...
Simple Tech 60g external drive
Model number = SP U25/60
BOM # = 96200 - 41002 -102
He used a program that's called "Hide and protect any drives" (or at least thats what it says its called in my Program Files, heres the link to there site http://www.softstack.com/hidedrv.html )
He put the software on my computer and the X drive but i cant get into the drive so...
I'll answer any other questions you guys have, but if someone can actually come up with a solution i would be VERY thankful and would find someway to repay you. I know this sounds REALLY stupid...But i'm not really that tech stupid so you don't have to dumb things down for me. Anywase please help me guys...Kinda don't wanna have to return it.

wi/ht? if for new people to ask how to get experience instead of using the search bar, and that's basically it's only purpose.
well if you look at it this way... he did what he set out to do, you can't get into the drive.
did you try to uninstalling the program?
Evil spelled backwards is Live and we all want to do that now don't we.
Deny the big lie, don't beLIEve and don't conform.

Yeah i uninstalled it from my computer and i would do the same on the drive but...Well you know.
If I were you, I'd beat the shit out of your friend and make him buy you a new harddrive
Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.
-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

Actually that's looking like my best option right now...
You could try plugging in a different mass storage device, like a crappy 128MB memory stick in place of the HDD, so that your computer would switch the locking features to that and then plug your Hard Drive in afterwards, giving it a different profile and device name maybe.
It was a problem I had a while ago, I had to re-arrange some drives and they ended up with changed profiles and names.
BBS Mod, PM me if you have something to report.
