I still can't see people defending a war where attrocities like this happen:

It's extremely clear to me that US soldiers aren't ready for this kind of integrated civilian/enemy society. Look at how great the US is, in a country it has no right to be in, killing it's civilians. Hawt.

Yeah, because if US troops were just killing civilians, they'd make sure to video tape it and put it on the internet huh?

You're the typical anti-war moron, you see a video clip that is taken entirely out of context and use it to make a political point.

How do you know those were civilians? Were you unaware of the fact that the insurgents ARE civilians, and wear civilian clothes?

Get a fucking clue. All this video shows is a TINY part of something that was certainly more complicated.

Notice how the video only starts in the middle of the shooting? I'm sure whoever posted that intentionally took out a part where the US troops were being fired upon and that this is what started the fire fight.

Seriously, all these anti-war dipshits are just getting dumber and dumber You see a video, that is OBVIOUSLY just an intentionally isolated account of something much bigger, and you take it entirely out of context and use it to make a point.

People like you are proof that lies and propaganda are better at convincing people than facts.

You're pathetic

Oh yeah, and did you fail to notice how during the whole thing the Marines are ducking down, and at the end of the firing they are ordered to stay down because of a "sniper"?

You think they would have to do that if all they were doing was firing on civilians?

Are you so blinded by your irrational bias against the war that you have become a fucking retard?

How do you know the car was a not a potential sucide bomber? Maybe you should blame the dumb Iraqi's who drove into the middle of a hot fire fight. Seriously why the fuck did some dumb ass towel head drive his car into the middle of a fire fight?!?!?!

I can't see there being a war where atrocities don't happen. This video is taken completely out of context. But let's say, like you seem to be implying (which you have no proof of), they were just massacring civilians. We all know this is wrong, and we all know that this kind of thing happens in war. As much as it hurts, without the anti-war rhetoric, cellardoor is pretty much right on this one.
"I'm sure whoever posted that intentionally took out a part where the US troops were being fired upon and that this is what started the fire fight."

But like I said, even if they weren't, this kind of thing is expected in war. It's not right, it's not pretty, but it's gonna happen and action will be taken to discipline the soldiers when and if they are caught. Armchair politicians shouldn't sit back and complain and pretend it is just American soldiers in just this war who have committed war crimes. War crimes always happen when any kind of combatant is put in a situation that it is too much for him/her to handle, or if they're just psychopaths. But the fact that some guys went on a killing spree shouldn't be used to say that the entire US is killing innocent people in a country, because that's not the policy, that's against Army code and those soldiers will be disciplined if they are found out to have killed innocents on purpose.

Point is, don't take some random video out of context to say that because a few guys went crazy, all of our soldiers are crazy, because that's like saying that because of George Bush all Americans are retarded.

"Dude, that f---ing snipe round hit right where you were"

If you listened to these guys, it wasn't just random firing. There's no evidence in the video to show that they even hit the civilians, if those were civilians.

"I shot that guy in the white car into the building"

There's no evidence that the potential civilian was hit, just that he was driven indoors by the gunfire. Why did he crash his car into the other one and dive out to go inside? Why not continue on and pass the parked car?

I don't see any "atrocity" here, just a bit of bull propaganda. Nothing was actually shown, nothing actually proven, just a tidbit of gunfire to let anti-war or otherwise anti-American-government people spout about how great their position is. That's war; learn to deal with it.

The video stops like, 1/4 through for me. It's a tad messed up that the soldiers were cheering about killing those people, even if they weren't civillians.

No, it is not. They just defeated people who were trying to kill them. They knew they would not die. I would be pretty happy too,

I wouldn't really be happy killing ANYONE. Sure, the soldiers are not dead, but you've taken another's life, whoopy-dee-do, now you're going to live with it.

i don't like the war at all! but i think if we went in there why not get the job done. if we got out then every other country would think were an easy target. plus we have helped the citizens there even if it isn't on tv. news only shows all the bad things not the good things are troops have done.
in general i don't think the war should of been started or lasted this long.

It's extremely clear to me from six years of browsing this message board that users who post topics like this and actually back up their oh-so-righteous positions with follow-up posts are extremely rare. If you've got something political to say, expand and reply on it. Otherwise you're just bitching and not really contributing anything.

Feel free to step in line with the other statistics at any time.

Well, thats irrelvant to the matter at hand. They are not in the wrong for cheering. The one in the wrong is the topic poster, who posts a piece of propaganda. And to be frank, would you rather die by a terrorist then kill a terrorist? I think not.

Well, unless he spotted the actual bullets moving back and forth, it would be pretty hard to tell he was driving into the middle of it.

Anyway, just from the sounds, it seems like there was some legitimate reason for the shooting happening, and some dude was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I have to agree with Cellar on this one. What about this video clip screams "innocent civilians"? The soldiers cheering? No, that would most likely indicate that thet took out some insurgents. The fact that a guy in a car drove up? That just makes it even less likely that these people were "innocent". Maybe it's just me, but if I hear gunfire and I'm unarmed and have nothing to do with it, I'm going to drive AWAY from the sound. Unless I have some weird death wish.

Suicide by soldier?

Give me a break. Anyone notice that the poster hasn't said anything to defend his position? Hmm, what does that indicate?

I'm against the war, but if I'm going to provide reasons I think we shouldn't be there, I'm gonna make sure that they actually support my case. Maybe you should try that sometime.

There is logic on both sides. I wonder if anyone can find a longer version of that video?

The main thing that makes it look like it was possible that the soldiers were going out of control is that they were shooting before the car came, possibly at the sniper they mentioned later. Then the first car came and looked like it panicked, and it crashed into to the parked car. Maybe it was an insurgent coming to help out its sniper buddy? Maybe it was a civilian who didn't realize what was going on until it was too late? It'd probably be difficult for the soldiers to differentiate between the two possibilities.

I don't think we'd be able to find out for sure unless we find a longer video. That website didn't look particularly trustworthy.

There are different way to react to a stressful situation. Sometimes people get really pumped in that kind of situation. It's a way to deal with the stress. Don't complain because some soldiers are really gung-ho. :\
