Audio Sticky Update.

The current Audio Sticky have been updated very few times since the birth of the Audio Forum. I've suggested liljim an update, but no date is given (my guess is that there won't be an actual update until after the redesign).

- However, if you guys have anything you would like to see in the sticky, please post links to the threads here, along with a few words of why it should be in the sticky. Better start gathering threads and info a.s.a.p :)

yeah, that would be nice. and how about a link to the lounge? I know it'll never die, but if people actually do what the sticky says and "read it first if they're new to audio" than they're probably new to the forums.

if the sticky is updated weekly, then maybe have them post the previous winners of the weekly 5 or something.

seriously tho - maybe they should post a date in the audio sticky of when this magical update is going to occur tha will solve all the audio portal problems.. hrmm..? I seem to recall in september/october/november them telling us "nono.. we''ve pushed it forward.. the audio update will be NEXT month..."

Maybe people should just not be stupid anymore and use common sense and actually look through some threads. Then the "sticky", which I have actually never even read, wouldn't even be necessary...

I actually sent a pm to Tom a while ago about updating that sticky, with The Reason Thread for help with Reason/other Propellerhead products, and Ask your Cubase questions here for help with Cubase.
and now there is the Ableton Live Support thread for Ableton help too.

The new title should be "Read this before you make a thread" and it should open with a line of welcoming. I think it would be good to make a mention of Rucklo and RageVI being the active and omnipresent mods. I'll look up the various music theory threads when I have more time, they really deserve a mention as well.
Oh and Who's your favorite audio author because duplicates of it pop up very often.

What was already said... Rather, instead of posting the top 5 subs, make it random like the random 2 subs on the front page? Take a random 5-10 subs and update the list weekly or whenever necessary.

A link to the Lounge will also help, seeing as how there's one to the advert topic. My only gripe is, since there's quite a few people that are first timers, they'll have a tendancy of clicking the "New Topic" button in the AF instead of the Sticky. I propose that first timers are redirected to a page after they upload their first song reminding them to advertise their song in the Audio Advertisement Thread instead of starting a new topic. (Or make it universal I.E. everyone regardless of whether they're regulars or newbs).

There are loads of good threads that could be done and find a place in the sticky when it's time to update it.
A few days ago b0unc3 suggested a mastering thread, tutorials of the most common softwares are always good, and serious threads about discussing the artistic aspects of creating audio.

Threads that have a serious topic and are well performed (and looks neat :) could very well have it's place in the future sticky update! If you have a good idea about a new thread but are a little uncertain about it, don't hesitate to PM me about feedback.

The Audio Advertisements page and the different help threads would be nice to have up there.

A mastering thread would be awesome. Also maybe someone could do something with this Eq Frequencies. I would make a thread about it, but I would just end up posting a link and say "Check it out".

Thread Idea - "Successin the AP"
An official thread discussing
- What determines one's "success" in the AP.
- How to get used in more submissions
- How to attract good feedback
- How to/why write reviews
- AP etiquette
etc, etc, etc...

Not all of that but an organized topic along the lines of this and of course a link to it in the sticky. There are some threads like that already, I'm thinking of something more organized and more open to discussion - not something about how paragon is the greatest artist on the AP or, the ever-so-popular "Why doesn't anyone like my music?!?" thread. Hopefully the amount these similar threads are created would decrease a little bit. It would be a little more interesting than just saying don't advertise outside the Advertisement thread.

Maybe another thread (with a link on the sticky) on how to make an MP3's loop properly. No one seems to know... or care how to do this. As we can only post mp3 format, something like this would be nice and I would gladly help write it and I know Rucklo could add to this with his 10 second DNB loop thingamajig.

Thats all for thread ideas. It's just for consideration, I'm not going to go out and attempt to make these threads on my own, but if it sounds like a good idea to enough people I'm willing to help.

Besides that, I think that next to the wherever you link to the Advertisement thread, stress that when posting in it, it's nice to review a couple other songs that are on there as well. I'm sure it wouldn't make a huge difference, but I think it would help make the Advertisement thread a bit a bit more successful.

I like the idea of a mastering tutorial page. It would probably deal with EQ frequencies as well, so I think another thread would be unnecessary. I also agree that there should be a link to the AF lounge or one of those intro threads if they're still around.

I deleted a few 'funny-posts', I want to keep this thread serious, in case it grows large... If so, I don't want ceveral pages of funny-ness to scroll through before finding links and suggestsions.
