I don't think the problem is with the sprite films...just that all the users on here give them really good scores, it's probably because the ratio of people creating flash and people watching flash on NG has shifted. There are so many more watchers than creators now that they completely swing the vote. I can tell that a lot of the Super Mario Bros Z flash was tweening....but the average person doesn't even know what tweening is...they simply assume all the animation is frame by frame.

The problem isn't so much about sprite movies ranking high, than it is that Phoenix Wrong hardly qualifies as even that. It's more a 'flash YTMND compilation' or something.

Seriously kids, of all the Phoenix Wright parodies, there's only one that's an actual, self-drawn, self-written movie on NG (excluding the ones that are badly drawn on purpose and make references to hentai). It's called 'Only Heroes Wear Cravates'. It may not be the best film, but at least it's an actual parody.

Parodies actually make light of the source material. Phoenix Wrong is a lip-sync experiment.

they shouldnt even be allowed to make. it doesnt even take a minute to think of something so uncreative as "Im gonna make a spirte movie about Mario farting and maybe he'll jump the flagpole and maybe the flagpole will fall on his ass!!"

it takes no skill and no fucking thought whatsoever. this is comming from someone who made 3 terrible music videos starring game characters so I know for a fact that these things are overrated crap... but at least those were drawn.

Yeah most videogame movies suck ass, but then again there are a lot of drawing movies that completely suck as well, it's possible for someone to go 'Omg drawn movies suck all the proportions are ghey they all suck' but no-one does, but becuase most (like 98% of) VG movies suck so the really really good ones are still hated becuase of it.

And lol my overrated game Bullet Bill 2 used videogame sprites and that got money from the Best of December. *flees*

TOP FIVE MOVIES:

1. What is Love?

I, personally, thought this could have been a LOT better. The guns concept was creative, and the music fit with the movie, but... It's the graphics. The character designs are deliberate knockoffs of South Park. I'm sure that the animator is capable of something more creative and more detailed, so they should show that. The lipsync of the characters was really choppy, too. They should learn from the Super Flash Bros (true masters) about smooth movement and lipsync. Overall, it was a well done movie, but the graphics could use work.

TOP FIVE GAMES:

1. The Impossible Quiz

THIS was brilliant. The graphics on this were scratchy, yes, but it's not centered around the animation like What is Love? was. It actually made me think, and most games don't do that. Every question had a 'think-outside-the-box' answer, and you didn't actually need to know specific random facts in order to answer (like Super Mario quizzes or NFL quizzes). I laughed by the time I figured out the harder questions, and the further I got through the quiz, the funnier it got. PHENOMINAL game that desrved the top spot.

I also think that Chase 'n' Pacman 2 should have gotten in the top 5, or at LEAST the top 20. That movie is well done in almost every single way.

It's definitely a lot tougher to make a frame by frame drawn flash than a sprite flash... But yea, there will always be new viewers and old viewers who stop viewing due to college... work... and all that crap that takes so much time out of the day. The new viewers are probably thinking... wow! how did that regular nintendo graphics get on newgrounds? and vote high just cuz of that.

I wasn't intended as a replacement for Zef. He just got too busy with college. Whether or not he gets more work is Akira's business.
