Manchester is probably runned by a bunch of pinkos. It seems retarded to ban a soft drink because you don't like the idea of some of your students choosing to drink it. Everyone is born equal, some more than others.

Seems real... seems like it played down though...
11 March 2007
STUDENTS SLAP BAN ON COKE
By Stephen Hayward Consumer Correspondent
COCA-COLA has been banned from university bars and shops in protest over alleged human rights abuses by the fizzy drink giant.
It has also been accused of ignoring anti-union abuses at its factories in South America.

As for for the ban, I think the Indian people have more right to survival than Coke's capitalistic advantages... In Mexico, the situation is the same-- although, there's also a paper mill. My father's town has no river anymore, which used to be an important source of water. Now all that's left is a dinky lake, and the Coke and paper mill businesses won't be happy until they've drained its last bit of water.
Because once that happens, all they do is move on to the next area and leave the people all dehydrated.

As retarted and un-sensible as banning coke is... it's for the best, all it does is give you a temoprary caffeine buzz (like coffee) which gives you a temporary boost of energy which usually dies in about 5 minutes and makes you feel even more tired than you did before... it also makes people insanely obese, causes teeth to break down and it also contains benzene, the same chemical found in cigarette smoke.... very unhealthy

It's not about the effects it has on the people that drink it. It's about holding -- or at least trying to hold -- corporations responsible for how they operate.
If you think stealing water from communities is ok, then good for you.

Just because something is bad for you doesn't mean it should be banned. It is our own choice to pollute our bodies.

I would tend to think this would be more the fault of the companies Coca Cola licenses to produce and sell it's products in India, not the direct responsibility of Coca Cola itself.
Or has no one ever noticed that Coca Cola bottling plants within our borders tend to behave themselves a lot better than do their foreign cousins?

actually drinking too much coke can make you fat. at 160 calories a serving per 12 ounces (90 per 8) , it can add up fast if you like to consume 2 or 3 2 liter bottles a day, which isnt hard at all.

Why do they never ban pepsi at universities? Seriously, that's soft drink discrimination right there.
University of Michigan banned Coke a while back too.
What's up with all the coke hating? What, pepsi isn't racist enough for the universities? Heresy!

Maybe because the act of buying Coke increases demand for the product and thus the supply, which inevitably destroys more usuable water that's needed for the SURVIVAL of whatever's the name of that Indian town?
I swear to God.
Boys, hand over your dicks to me... Dickheads don't need a surplus of un-needed and unused material. When you've behave yourself, I shall reconsider giving them back to you.

YES.
Because they are in the bounderies of where US law can more or less be used to persecute. That's the obvious, of course.
But why hasn't Coca-Cola actively worked to put whoever are their affiliations in line by either 1.) corporial punishment, 2.) legislative punishment, 3.) dropping certain business ties.
It works for their capitalistic advantage to not supress those needs because they don't go heard world wide and the people, as horrible as it sounds, are either dumb or naive in that they don't cry to every newspaper in the world. Or there's the problem in that they haven't the means to do it because they're isolated, don't have ways to make messages travel effeciently, and stuff like that.
We're in the Industrial Revolution again, however on a global scale. However, it's gone unnoticed because the Lion hasn't roared. And until that time... Coke is just going to practice global unethical business conduct until either other governing countries work hard to persecute them, or the bounderies of our laws can be applied to them overseas.

Wha.... erm... seriously what?
Did you even read any of the posts, or did you see the word "Manchester" and instantly assume that somehow Manchester United FC have somehow stolen some water from somewhere and magically blamed the Coca Cola company.

I drink coke like everyday and it should be banned.
Seriously the stuff is like evil, its loaded with crap, rots you teeth (did you know it can be used as a very potent bleach? I hear theirs some site "101 uses for coke a cola" or something"), its addictive and over advertised. And the comapny treats its employess like shit and is prepared to kill them when it can get away with it (see Columbia).

Hey, just because you too much of an idiot to exercise some self-control doesn't mean the rest of us responsible drinkers should suffer.

Unless someone has some sort of disorder from drinking soda to cause themselves to become fat, i'm not going to accept any lame excuses.

While if they're abusing human rights, that's something that should be looked in to, it would be unfair and illegal to ban it worldwide. That's free trade, it's not up to the government, it's up to the consumer.
