This topic is to post your political affiliation/belief/ideology in a brief statement on no more than four words. Do not challenge or reply to other people's statements; I just want to get an idea of how opinion runs on the forum.

Here's mine:
right-wing conservative

I'm an wildcard liberal.

Meaning I pick and choose what issues I wish to be conservative about.

Since the liberal issues far outweigh the conservative, I call myself a wildcard liberal.

well u need to understand politics, cuz if u dont this is pointless...

and its just easier if i use democrats and republicans

the left wing is called liberals is called democrats

the right wind is called conservatives is called republicans

for the most part... there are those that flip-flop on the issues...

liberals TEND to like more social government programs, this ranges from social security to the govt providing you with everything u need, depending on the person... economic programs would have the govt recieve taxes, and try to keep the budget relatively balanced...

conservites TEND to want smaller governments... ranging from cutting social programs to disbanding all govt programs, depending on the person... economic programs would have the govt reduce if not eliminate taxes and having lassiez-faire on businesses...

this may be a bit skewed... but i tried to define both as fairly as i could...

Im conservative, but not republican (not meaning democrat).

I think following a political party solely because you always have or because your family is for a side is a bad practice. I vote on presidents not for which party they run for, but for which platform they run on (which one coninsides with my beliefs).

True. The Republicans are getting soft and are too quick to compromise and cave on core issues.

the Reps are getting soft??? where do u see that commander?

im complete independent... i take no sides on any issues, except for these:

1) i think america should use morre nuclear power like france does, its more environmentally safe...

2) i like canada's prescription drug plan, since it costs 4 times LESS than the US's...

3) i think there should be a universal health care system, that way people dont get stuck with not having their doctors prescribe the best medicine OR worse yet the people cant afford the medicine they need...

also the alternative to this is only to call the ideas socialist, there are no negative spins to any of these views... and if u can think of one other than calling them 1 step closer to communism, i say let me here it...

Nuclear power isn't environmentally safe at all, but I bet you mean that the plants are secure and safety is used to prevent meltdowns.

2) i like canada's prescription drug plan, since it costs 4 times LESS than the US's...

Yeh, it's due to a bill that was passed some years ago that removed price controls on medicine prices; I'm pretty sure that isn't the same in Canada.

3) i think there should be a universal health care system, that way people dont get stuck with not having their doctors prescribe the best medicine OR worse yet the people cant afford the medicine they need...

I know there are benefits to that plan, but as a democratic right people should be able to choose their own health plan.

also the alternative to this is only to call the ideas socialist, there are no negative spins to any of these views...

Yes, except for the first one, they are socialist; but I do like government price controls on prescription drugs because the price of them nowadays is way too high.

hey i live 10 minutes away from a nuclear power plant, and feel safe... the smoke that rises from the towers is only steam, which is way better than that of coal, oil or natural gas smoke... and yes i dont see a meltdown happening anytime... unless some people decide its time for 9-11: KFC style...

i know im going to hell

3) i think there should be a universal health care system, that way people dont get stuck with not having their doctors prescribe the best medicine OR worse yet the people cant afford the medicine they need...
I know there are benefits to that plan, but as a democratic right people should be able to choose their own health plan.

well true, but id be willing to give up my right of health care choice for a really great one... OR how about if its just one of the many options for health care?

also the alternative to this is only to call the ideas socialist, there are no negative spins to any of these views...
Yes, except for the first one, they are socialist; but I do like government price controls on prescription drugs because the price of them nowadays is way too high.

well the reason for 90% of frances electricity coming from nuclear power is instead of doing the capitalist thing and letting companies put up any kind of nuke plant, the generators were said by french law to be a certain type, which was decided to be the most cost efficient kind of generator for nuke plants... i forgot to add that in...

oh the things i remember from my 8th grade history books...

As for America, well America has two right wing parties. One just happens to be slightly left of the other.

In the end, corperate America runs America anyway.

right wing - free market, far right - market economy

left wing - controlled market, far left - command economy

conservative - a bit more complex than this, but basically moderalty libertarian, moderately right wing

liberal - again a bit more complex, but basically strongly left wing(not necessarily far left), and moderately libertarian

libertarianism is the opposite of authoritarianism. ultimate authoritarianism is totalitarianism. ultimate liberterianism is anarchy

the libertarian party(which i belong to) is very strongly right wing, often far right(like myself) and very strongly libertarian, though never as far as ultimate libertarianism

ugh, i forgot one thing, while conservative and liberal are both moderately libertarian they are as such in very different ways. a democrat judge is more likely to give a light sentence to a drug user than a republican judge, but respectively a republican judge is less likely to tell you not to say "elderly"

"Liberal" actually means centerist and takes a line between full government intervention and no government intervention. But of course Americans don't realise this.

They back down on too many issues and tend to compromise too much with the Democrats. Rather than fight the democrat agenda, as they should, they cave so the Democrats won't attack and slander them as they are experts at doing.

1) i think america should use morre nuclear power like france does, its more environmentally safe...

Yes, but not economically feasible. Nuclear power plants are EXPENSIVE. Not necessarily to operate, but the they only have a life span of a few decades when then the plant itself must be meticulously deconstructed and hauled away in safe containers to a storage facility.

3) i think there should be a universal health care system, that way people dont get stuck with not having their doctors prescribe the best medicine OR worse yet the people cant afford the medicine they need...

They won't get the best care, they'll get government-mandated care, and since when did the government do something efficient, cheap and well-done with a high degree of quality? People will pay lots of money for the government to tell them what they need, whether or not they need it.

also the alternative to this is only to call the ideas socialist, there are no negative spins to any of these views... and if u can think of one other than calling them 1 step closer to communism, i say let me here it...

The national health care is socialist. Sorry.

And Slizor, the Democrats are a leftist party. There is no possible way you could call them right-wing, not with their extensive list of social programs and big government on their agenda.
