A virus

Hey everyone, I was surfing on newgrounds and I accidently clicked one of them porn sites on the side. And after I did that I quit it, and another popped, up and another and another, so I had like 9 sites. That's not the problem though:P
A couple seconds later my anti-virus told me I had a suspision of a virus. It was in C:\Windows\System\CD_LOAD.exe
It seems that cydoor has created it, it affects .dll files name cd_clint.dll cd_gif.dll cd_htm.dll and cd_html.dll How do I get rid of it? When I looked them up all i found was cd_load.exe and cd_clint.dll. HELP!

I had the SAME exact problem. I believe that you need to edit the SYSTEM and USER files and delete the links in them.

Cydoor is a spyware program. If you have kazaa, you have cydoor. The best way to get rid of it is download Ad Remover. You can find it at download.com

get spyware remover and uninstall kazaa imediatly, back up all your work onto disk and set your system back a day or so before you got the virus. Have your virus scanner try to quarintine them, delete kazza, and download.

I had kazaa but I : 1) uninstalled kazaa
2) downloaded Kazaa Lite (with much more abilities than the original) from htpp://www.k-lite.tk
3) downloaded ad-aware 6 from kazaa lite.
4) installed it and all the spyware/adware were removed (67 on the first scan)

Can you only get the virus if have kazaa or do you get it for clicking on some pornbanners?

You can get the virus from any banner, if u have kazaa then for sure u have CD_LOAD.exe, anyways, I cleaned it out, it's not a virus, it's spyware.

Spyware? As in - it can be used to monitor your activities, or something to that effect? So what measures do you suggest we take to prevent that?

I've been considering switching to Kazaa Lite. Maybe this is that final nudge that demands action.

You should just get an ad blocker when u get rid of it.....norton personal firewall 2003 has one......it's good.....u have to disable the firewall alot thou...

This kind of stuff happens a lot. With loads of sites, especially outwar. My advice to evrybody with this problem (including me): There is a magnificant program called BlackICE. It will stop ANY program. When ANY program runs, BlackICE "puts"it on "pause" and prompts you if you want to let it continue or "terminate" it. And every once in a while you let it do a "baseline", it scans all programs on your PC, and lets those continue automaticly. Then when new stuff comes, it prompts you again. Anyway, i think you get the point now ^_-
It costs lots of money, but your dumb if you pay for it, çause you can just download it, and a keygen for it (so DONT register on-line, cause then your dead!)

Download a spyware removal program. A quality one is the free adaware 6 from www.astonsoft.com. Scan the whole hardisk with this piece of software, then you should know what to do. Ah, and remember to keep it updated.

ok people look, i'm gonna do what you guys say, i'm getting rid of kazaa, getting kazaa lite, and downloading Spybot. If i don't reply soon, it's because spybot was really a virus, and have to reboot my cpu.

Man, SPy bot, Search & Destroy aint a virus, I'd like everyone to know that. I got it maybe a month ago, ran the search drive thing, then after you complete that, you can go to immunize, and what that does is blocks atleast 150 sites, programs ect. that can give you spy, and ad ware. And on top of all that, my computer runs faster that ever! I recommend it, it's a good download.
