for mei wold choose the air fource.

First its the Air Force, I'm assuming you don't speak English as a first language, but still it isn't that hard to spell.

the reason, i dont have to worry about getting killed by my enemy. i could fly a jet that comes and goes in a second without anytrace eccept for the destruction it created.

With your spelling, and your grammar it seems as you are fairly uneducated, so you flying a plane has little to not chance. Also, every branch has aircraft that they use, and every branch has them crash or shot down from time to time.

or work on the computers that launch a rocket to an enemy base while i am a few miles at sea.

That would likely be the Army or Navy. Marine Corps does have some rocket artilary I think, but I don't recall.

Umm Cell how were you approved for officer school just from your ASVAB? I missed 1 question on it when I took it. Maybe I am misreading what you said though, because in order to become a commisioned officer you have to have a degree.

the Coast Guard is under the command of the same people as the other branches of our fine armed forces buddy, show some respect for our country
When was the last time the Puddle Pirates were used to invade another nation? Somebody up top still uses the Coast Guard to defend the United States, and at the rate things are going, they couls almost become our last line of defense if we start another sour war....

The Coast Guard has been deployed to Iraq and was deployed to patrol the Coasts of Vietnam back in the 1960s and 1970s. The USN is a blue water navy which means that it is suited for patroling the high seas, but you can't use a battleship to patrol a coast line to interdict small vessels running contraband such as drugs or weapons into the US...or a war zone. That is the forte of the US Coast Guard, and the reason why in times of war they shift from being under the Treasury Dept. (?) to being under the Defense Department. Furthermore, did you know that while the USN is the world's largest navy, the USCG is the world's seventh largest navy?

So yeah, join the USCG and you could still find yourself patroling the Coasts of Iraq, Iran or N. Korea...but not Afghanistan since it is a landlocked country...

I am going to join the army. I wish to become a Ranger. I hear it's tough shit, but what kind of man would I be if I didn't at least make an attempt?

The Guard does too much service overseas to be called a defensive unit. They were used in the invasions, therefore they are offensive soldiers.

Plus, I can't be drafted without a very radical amendment to the health regulations. I have a transplanted cornea in my left eye and I need one in my right. Good luck getting them to draft me...

no, you just have to have so manysemester hours to get into OCS (officer Candidate School) By the time you graduate from OCS you'll have so many semester hours in college blah blah blah. Only 4% of the Army is actually commisioned officers as far as I've been told though so don't think it's easy.

What I'm saying is off of the ASVAB itself you shouldn't be getting an offer to become an officer. I missed 1 question, I know a few people that scored perfect and didn't get an up front offer to become an officer from the recruiter.

You don't know what you're talking about. They don't accept people based only on the ASVAB, thats not what I said. To sign up for the Marine Corps officer program you need a high school diploma (which I had) and you need to score higher than 1100 on the SATs or the equivalent on the military ASVAB test.

Then you have to be accepted into an a certified NROTC University, (I applied to and got acceptance letters from more than 15 colleges, 5 of which were NROTC certified).

Now to clear up any more misunderstandings, NROTC stands for Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, since Marines are under the department of the Navy, Marine Officer aspirants are given a curriculum under the Naval academy. Then after graduation they enlist in the Marine Corps as 2nd Lieutenants.

So I was and am fully qualified. But what turned me off was the fact that when you graduate from NROTC you have be committed to 8 years on active duty, meaning I would have been 26 when I could have left (i was 18 at the time). Then I would have had to go back to college for 6-8 years to get the degree that I have now (Bachelor of Business Tech), and the degree I will earn I will earn sometime in the next few years if I start to attend full time again (Master of Military Science).

Wow lots of odd thinking. First off, I'm in the Navy, and my unit is curently in the desert. I was fortunate enough to stay here (Just getting to the unit affected my deployability).
Second, to the person who said the Marines have the best food; Does MRE mean anything to you? It stands for meal ready to eat, and they are disgusting. I had to live on them when th military mesed with my pay about six years ago (they are about a dolar a meal). I think my digestive tract is still trying to recover.
And finaly, the Coast Guard does deploy to the gulf. They do security patroles. On a side not, the coast Guard no longer falls uner the department of defense. They are now listed under the department of homeland security, so technicly they aren't a part of the armed forces any more. They are a little more closely related to law enforcement.

for your information, you have alot of chance of being killed in the air force because if you think about it, flying a jet, look at those jets in the sky. any kind of anti air turrent can shoot it down, or also think about the crashes, or the chance of losing air in your suit/plane. it is a good divison but dont say u dont have to worry about dieng. anyways i would join the army because i just happen to live on an army base!

When I joined the USAF the Army recruiter tried to talk me into the Army because I had completed over two years of college. The incentive was that the Army would make me a Lt right away. After Officer Training School I would have had until I pinned on Captain to finish my four year degree. Thus in the Army you do NOT need a degree to become an officer.

I turned it down because I figured I could become an O in the USAF and besides, an Air Force E-5 has about the same prestige as an Army Lt...

the enemy has fighter planes too
anyway have u ever heard of SAMS= surface to air missille system
they go faster than anyplane and higher
only way to lose it is to confuse it
anyway air force bombs civilians whether its with high tech navigated missiles (which suck and ussually result in civilian death and all those other so called smart bombs)
anyway u shouldnt support militarism but diplomacy
theres no point in slaughterin fellow man if u can just negotiate and settle things without the loss of life

We have better ones, and we have other systems that allow us to dominate the air. Why do you think in 1992 the Iraqi Air Force took off in the first hours of the war...and fled into Iran not to fight?

anyway have u ever heard of SAMS= surface to air missille system

Again we have numerous ways of negating this threat.

they go faster than anyplane and higher
only way to lose it is to confuse it

And we are exceptionally skilled at it. Why do you think that in Baghdad, one of the most heavily anti-air defended city in the world, we lost so few pilots in 1992 and 2003?

anyway air force bombs civilians whether its with high tech navigated missiles (which suck and ussually result in civilian death and all those other so called smart bombs)

Data? Support? If a bomb misses a target or hits the wrong building it is usually the result of wrong Intel or the soldier on the ground feeds the wrong coordinates to the pilot in the air.

anyway u shouldnt support militarism but diplomacy
theres no point in slaughterin fellow man if u can just negotiate and settle things without the loss of life

Guess what? It is often the soldier these days who is the last to want to go to war. It is the military who has to do the fighting and dying while people back home use our sacrifices to further their political agendas and make themselves feel good. Not only that but it is us who have to do the killing and deal with the guilt and PTSD.

What do you do about people who use diplomacy as a means of keeping their regimes alive while they deprive, brutalize and starve their people? There are some times that diplomacy is more evil and kills more people than war.

Either Marines or Army. I wouldn't like to fly jets or stay in a submarine for months for my job.

I'm leaning toward Marines, though. I still can't decide what I want my MOS to be, although I've narrowed it down to Infantry, Armor and Artillery.

AIR FORCE

On a more serious note, the Air Force. It would give me the best opportunity to do the most nerd stuff.
