I thought I'd conduct a little poll. Research is showing that younger people see radio as some old fashion, usless, technology. With the invention of MP3 players, mainly iPods, many people no longer listen to the radio and just listen to their iPOD, etc.
So who here never, or rarely, listens to the radio? Who does still listen to the radio? Radio could be AM, FM, Satellite, etc.

Im thirteen. When I was twelve I always listened to the radio, no joke. But now I dont really. Ever since I got an Ipod and got a good taste in music, as radio only plays mainstream.

I do. I sometimes listen to it on the way to work, and sometimes at the office. :)
But I also have ripped copies of my CDs on my hard drives too, so it's kind of a mix, lol.

I never listen to the radio, unless I'm driving, but I do download podcasts of Radio Shows (like Ricky Gervais, Al Murray etc).

Nope, I barely ever listen to radio. Sometimes my parents put sports on in the car, but I won't listen to it.
After all, it's main star was killed in 1979 by the elusive "Video".

I usually listen to a local rock station when I'm riding in a car, but I use my mp3 whenever I'm out. If I'm at home, I sometimes listen to a radio while taking a shower.

I never listen to the radio unless I'm in someone else's car and they have the radio on. I usually use my I-pod with car adapter. I don't like listening to the radio because it's like the same 10 songs played every hour.

Ienjoy listening to the radio in the car, but thats about it. If I want to listen to music I would rather listen to what I want to listen to at that moment in time, it depends on mood and surroundings. I don't like being told what to listen to, and I hate commercials.

Music-wise most commercial radio stations are agenda-ridden crap where the DJ gets little or no say in what's played, if that wasn't the case I'd still probably always choose iPod/CD/MP3 over the radio.
I listen to one radio show a week - Mary Anne Hobbs Experimental Show on Radio 1. Even then though it's using the BBC site, cos it's on a Friday night.

Okay, I listen to the few good stations available to me through FM radio when I drive if I don't want to listen to CD's, and at work we listen to a few stations on FM (97.7/99.5 MAX and WEBN). XM costs more than I'm willing to pay, and I listen to some FM stations available through the internet (WEBN)... Never In my life have I voluntarily listened to AM radio, but my dad does listen to conservative talk radio on AM (550 WKRC)

I have satellite radio, which is quite useful for discovering new music and rediscovering old songs you'd never hear on terrestrial radio, so yes, when I'm in my car I'll listen to that. To be honest, I've never enjoyed terrestrial radio, the few stations that played music I enjoyed were always bogged down by formats that had them playing the same rotation of songs ad infinitum and everything else was either easy listening or pop. There were a few cool AM stations, but you had to be in just the right spot to even pick them up.

radio is not dead and will never die,it's the only place to listen to music free legally, and most popular bands get their break on the radio,if these bands don't become popular on the radio you would not be able to buy mp3s etc. in most cases, and mainstream is usually another word for good.

I listen to it from time to time. Maybe if they started things such as reading stories on the radio in our area I would tune in more often.

I gave up on radio when my favorite techno/trance station turned in to a Jesus station. Having a trance station was unheard of in this area, and they had zero commercials. I guess it was doomed for failure, but it was great while it lasted.
I only ever listened to it while driving, anyway. I do CDs while driving, and rarely ever listen to music while at home (other than when making it).

I HATE the radio, at least any commercial radio. For one, I don't like to be forced to listen to the same tired, played out songs 30 times a day. Also, I majored in broadcasting in college, and I had to look at the radio industry as a whole, and found it to be quite a joke. There's still hope with internet radio, but when the industry has the entire thing boiled down to a few select songs, with no guts to give anything new a chance, I'd say it is, in fact, dead. The 'hard rock' station here is still playing the exact same songs it played 10 years ago, when I may have actually given the thing a chance.

I'm listening to the radio right now. Not by choice but because the country station dosen't return the FCC's phone calls and so it plays through my speakers with great volume. But radios are good for cars nothing more.

I listen to the radio when driving, but my car has no other option. I drive an '87 Volvo Wagon, it has only a radio and a tape deck. Even if it had a CD player I don't know if I would use it. Do I really want to put in an hour long CD for a 15 minute trip? Besides, who wants to carry a bunch of CDs in their car?
