Democrat Primary

First of all, I'd like to thank all of you for the different insights on this forum. I visit it regularly, but rarely post. Hopefully I will be accepted into the Regular's Lounge anytime soon.

Anyway, about the Democrat Primary. So by now we have Clinton and Obama. IMO, bad choices both of them. Both Clinton and Obama will split the democratic vote and we can't afford another Republican Candidate. Sen. McCain is in there and could win the Presidency. He sure as heck is qualified, and he has a strong, emmm, "fan base" that would vote for him no matter what.

So, what I'm trying to get to is, am I the only one that is begging, kicking and screaming for Al Gore to announce his candidacy?

For God's sake, as much as I like Obama, he's a total n00b! And Hillary is a ..... well, she will DEFINITELY polarize the voters.

I propose Al Gore for president, Obama for Vice-President, and Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State. What do you guys think? Are you scared shitless about the outcome of the 2008 elections? I am.....

Listen, I understand what you are saying. Socialism may not be the best choice, but it's better than far out capitalism. Whenever I can, I vote libertarian. But I can't vote Libertarian on the presidential election, and I'm sure as hell not voting Republican.

The Animal Farm allusion is that Obama and Clinton are the same as Snowball and Napolean. Their leaders are a lot like communists in a lot of areas. They are not completely the same, but they have a lot of similarities. I agree that whacked out capitalism is bad, but overregulation creates this. I am also a libertarian, and yes, you can vote lib on the presidential election....

It's still too early to decide anything on the primaries. Afterall, I don't think candidates have ever announced that they're running this early before.

As far as the Democratic Primaries go, I can only hope Richardson (D-Arizona) decides to run. He would eaily beat out Clinton and Obama with a more impressive resume than both and a lot more popularity.

Obama is that really nice guy that everyone likes, but his Kill:Death ratio is pretty average and mediocre, so no one really relies on him when the entire team is dead and he's the only one left to take out the six remaining terrorists and defuse the bomb.

Not because I want her to be pres, but because Obama, while VERY promising, just does not yet have enough political clout to be able to get anything done in the White House. Give him 8 more years of committees and capital-making in the Senate and he'll be stellar... if he flames out in a premature presidential run, he may never recover.

And if McCain wins the repub primary (which is now up in the air apparently, according to some polls)... I'd actually vote for him over Clinton, even though I'm a registered Dem and mostly left-leaning. As much as the saying turns my stomach, he would is by far the best uniter (not divider *epic wince*) in the race. Every other candidate (bar maybe Gulianni) is a polarizing figure in politics... and after 8 years (some might say 16) of it, I'd rather get some shit done.

Wow, I never knew my first post on the politics forum would get so many replies. Anyways, whoever talked about the senators with the CS allusion- many cookies for you. It made me laugh out loud.

I agree that McCain is a wayyyy better candidate than Hillary and Obama. I am pretty liberal, and I would vote for him if I had no other choice. That's why I want Al Gore to run. Al Gore wouldn't polarize voters. And yes, I also want shit done....that's why I don't vote libertarian in the presidential election(our whole idea is about not getting shit done through the government)

Hillary just seems so fake to me I'd hate to see her as President. She has to be one of the most reclusive politicians around. She rarely does interviews and when she does they are totally on her terms, meaning only questions she approves can be asked, etc.

I just can't believe the Democrats can't find a solid candidate. Obama doesn't have a chance in hell. His middle name is Hussein (Yeah, let's put someone with a name like that in the White House after 9/11. That's what the masses will think.).I doubt middle America will vote for a black man, which is a shame, but there are to many ignorant people in middle america. Then you have Hillary, who many see as an ultra liberal crazy person, and she's a woman. Again, middle america probably won't go for her.

Al Gore, another nut, John Kerry, another nut. Can't they find someone normal? George Bush may come off as a moron, but he apeals to middle america more than the wackos the Democrats have been selecting. I have seen other Democrats that would make great candidates, but they aren't far enough to the left to get the support of the ultra-left Democrats who are currently running the party. So as long as the ultra-left is running their party they are going to have trouble winning the Presidency.

Guys, remember, don't count on Hillary and Obama being the only democrats in the primaries. It's still pretty early for candidates to be declaring. Let's see who may pop out from under the rug, so to speak, before bickering who we would like to see win the Democratic ticket.
