How reliable is Kazaa? 2003-05-01 20:52:12 Reply

just a question. i ask this because i download huge files from kazaa, sometimes over 500 mega with a 56k modem. Once i tried to download "mafia" the game (4 cds) which was like 2 gb and in the end it turned out to be some lameass strategy game that wasnt even working properly. so are most files on kazaa corrupt or renamed just to piss us users off?

KAZAA is the most UNRELIABLE PROGRAM known to MAN! The title will be like, RED FACTION 2, the file name will be MEdal of Honor, and the game will turn out to be like the SIMS or something!

Me? I use mIRC and FTPS! Right now I found the motherload, an ftp I have complete access to with ALL the NEWEST games and movies, it even has MALIBUS most wanted, phone booth, and anger management filmed in GREAT quality digital cameras. ALl movies are top quality, so I really lucked out!

There are many fakes but I usually get the right file. Once I was pissed oft because I downloaded something and when it was complete I saw that the .zip an other name had as the description and got angry, tried it out=500 megs of trash.

You take your chances kid...make sure your antivirus is updated too.....there is NOTHING that says they have to be what the file name says they are...besides---you should know better than to be so trusting in the integrity of people who use/distribute bootleg software..

One thing I've noticed is that the bigger the file, the more likely it is to be renamed. I think it just might be some people are stupid. In your case, I think someone had a confusion of identity, cause afetr there are strategy games about the mafia; I know one is called "Gangsters". But yeah, it sucks dude.

Having Kazaa installed on your computer is like hitting it with a bat.

Uninstall Kazaa, download "Spybot" and clean your PC for spyware, because Kazaa is filled with it, and then download Kazaa Lite, which is, perhaps, the perfect p2p application.

You are correct, it installs ad-ware (random popups) and spy-ware (activity logging), in addition to using your idle bandwidth and hard disk space for its storage and servers.

For one, dont go downloading anything that isnt released yet, silly! VC comes out May 15th i think. I cant wait. I'm for sure going to buy it since the rip prolly wont include the music, and thats half the fun.

People rename the large files so you download them and their participation level goes up. Its not like they do it to go "haha! You got the wrong file!" But yea, its dumb either way.

For movies, AVI-Preview helps a lot.

I try not to download software from Kazaa, 1/5 times it contains a virus, or is corrupted.

Why are you bothered? Unless you are worried about your secret porno stash being discovered then why do you care that they can see whats on your computer?

What do you mean by that? Just cause you start using K-Lite doesnt mean you loose all your downloads.

I used to use KaZaA a lot but it wasn't worth the frustration. It takes a little more money but actually buying the CDs was more rewarding for me. Most of the files you get from KaZaA are a little screwy anyways. It took me forever to find a version of Evanescence's "Tourniquet" that didn't have a weird scratching sound in the background...

Oh, first dude, drop Kazaa, and get Kazaa Lite. There is no spyware, and sometimes there's more of what you're looking for too. You say you have a 56K, try as hard as you can to get like Comcast cable hooked up, or what ever fast internet service they provide to you around you. I just got mine yesterday, and everything ran at least 100 kb/s.
