Who Else Liked Bush? 2007-03-03 01:19:57

I used to like the guy.. when everyone was convulsing after he did send troops to Afghanistan, I thought he was a cool guy...
But a couple years later, I've found that he's really just an idiot.. after countless speeches and meetings, he just continues to show that he is really not cool...
Anyone think he could continue being president when the next elections come around?
Or is he not even gonna be able to be elected back?

Also, I liked that he sent troops to Afghanistan because I glad that he didn't listen to all the whiney little fucks that tried to stop him... I have a huge dislike for the peace-lovers, anti-war, or pacifist.. whatever the hell they are, they really annoy me..

You've got to hand it to him, though, for having turned a tad more liberal after realizing that due to the democratic congress he must, otherwise he'd be screwed. That was an uncharacteristically good political move.

Due to the 22nd Amendment, no he won't.

No one tried to stop him for sending troops into Afghanistan. Even in my liberal as hell town (Harwich, Massachusetts at the time), who were all anti-Bush and pro-Kerry, after the Twin Towers fell, everyone was entirely pro-anti-Taliban and desired action in Afghanistan. Then he diverted our attention from Afghanistan and the Taliban to attack Iraq. So everyone disliked him again.

Strict Pacifists can be obnoxious in that they are a tad radical and unrealistic, but how can you dislike peace-lovers? Who doesn't love peace? Unfortunately, there are times when peace isn't the best option, but overall I'd think peace is our ideal goal.

Bush? Overrated glory hound. He'll be rated with Carter and Johnson for the worst of the worst...

Ok, sorry I don't dislike peace, but I dont like the people who think that there can actually be perfect peace... I'm pretty sure that can't ever happen, when people have nasty thoughts in their mins.. and everyone does

Well, we've got this thing called the Constitution, which holds the basic outline of our government. Then we have Amendments to the constitution (the first 10 being the Bill of Rights). The 22nd states that no president can serve for more than 2 4-year terms, or a total of 10 years (in case he/she should come into power from the resignment or death of the previous president).

Ok well thats good to know...

Would anyone object to him coming back if it were at all possible? (I know it's not, but I'm just asking an opinion)

Yes. Everyone except idiots would, and I use that word VERY scarcely (hats off to Memorize). I say this not only because I don't want Bush back in office, but also it could set a bad precedent.

I actually think that 10 years from now Bush will be considered to be a good president. Once all the emotionally charged hysteria subsides, people will read in the history books and see the full context of the situation, rather than doing what they do now to judge Bush. Which consists of "he talks funny, war, oil, dead babies, corporations, jew-monsters, neocon, blah blah blah blah"

President Bush actually achieved quite alot economically and militarily. People don't realize how remarkable the US economic recovery was after 9/11 that was due to tax cuts. If a similar thing of such a scale happened to any other country, I don't think they could have fared better. the WTC buildings were the economic hub of our entire country, and we recovered almost instantly from it. If the economic hub of any other country was destroyed, their economy would have crumbled. But this is all ignored or disregarded due to overly negative emphasis on Iraq.

Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.
-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

I voted for Bush twice and supported sending in the troops to both Iraq and Afghanistan. But I would not want to see him back in office.

In some regards I think he will be remembered as a good President, at least as good as Clinton. However there are some issues I think he's made some major mistakes in:

1) Taxes: I think the tax cuts have actually created a "tax entitlement" that will drain government coffers. The entire tax system needs to be overhauled to include doing away with excessive tax credits that result in getting back 3 or 4 times the amount of money you put into the system. A refund should not be more than what one pays into the sytem.

2) Military: We face significant issues over the next few years. Generals (such as the commander of the USAF's ACC) and civilians in the DoD are buy unnecessary toys such as the JSF and F-22, which be obsolete in 10 years and fills an immediate need that is largely imaginary. All while hurting the infrastructure that keeps the military sharp.

3) Iran: Good God man, no! The simple fact that you are actually thinking about it shows how little you understand what you're doing as CIC! We are stretched too thin! The Guard is approaching its breaking point! We have other, more important problems that demand our military attention...namely N. Korea! Leave Tehran to Condi!

I agree with TheMason on Iran. We have been spread too thin for years though....

I don't agree that Bush will be considered a good president. He will be considered a traitor to his constituents, a massive drain on the national debt, and just generally a shady character...

I'm sorry, he's had too many scandals to be considered a good president. Maybe he won't be seen as a Johnson or a Carter, but he will at least be a Nixon, a man who hurt more than helped.

Actually, the idea that Johnson (I assume you mean LBJ) was one of the worst-rated presidents is quite false. Although much of the troubles of Vietnam were placed on him, recent audiotape evidence shows that the decision to stay in Nam wasn't completely his, and he would have rathered slowly withdraw troops than increase them. Domestically, his program was fantastic. Under his administration we got the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, two highly important pieces of legislation. He also appointed Thurgood Marshall to the Supreme Court, the first African-American to serve on that bench. He started Medicare as an amendment to Social Security, and began the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment of the Arts. Space exploration was also experiencing great success, with the Gemini and Apollo programs. Taking the average of all the "Best/Worst President" polls taken nationwide since the first one in 1926, Johnson's ranking is 13.6- well into the upper half.

Carter is lower, with a 26.3, and Nixon is at 29.2.

In the most recent poll, taken in 2005, Johnson was 18 out of 42, Carter 34 out of 42, and Nixon actually ahead of Carter at 32 out of 42 (he was a fairly decent president on the foreign front). At the bottom of the pile is Harding at 39 and Buchanan at 40. Garfield and Harrison weren't included because their terms were so short.

I predict that out of 43 presidents, GWB will rank somewhere around 33 and 31.

He sent the troops so fucking late though!! Bush waited like a month to send the troops. And peace is a good thing.

Fuck you.

I think that he will be remerbered as a good president and a good man. He, like FDR, saved our nation in a time of Crisis. His economic plans have been a great sucess, and I feel he really does care for the lives of the innocent iraqies. His biggest 'scandal" was that he was conservative in a liberal media. He has not lied or covered up anything from the public. The WMDS was a possible threat, akin to playing heads or tails with millions of lifes, also overthrowing a facist is never a bad thing. Hussein was equivelent to Mussolini, but the media does not like us to think that Iraq was bad before we came.

Iran would not be a good idea, mainly because it is like playing with a bomb. If we intervent too soon, Russia and China is gonna be angry. On the other hand, if we do not intervene, Israel will like they did before. It is better to leave that situtaion to Isreal.

As for North Korea, we could step in and take if we wanted, its a very poor country, and we would just need the time to do it...however...that might set off a flare to Iran.

George Bush is a honest man who truly cares about America, the media tends to focus on his speech and scandals within the GOP...which is not fair to him. If you see his hair, its graying. He has given his life to making a stable muslim democracy in the middle east, for he can see that if he succeds, we will be very close to what everyone wants: peace.
