Man, that isn't INTENSE coloring. That is a different way of shading. And the amount of time you spend coloring something, doesn't mean it is intense,it only means you are using a tedious way to shade. Also, manipulating glows and excessive highlights makes everything look pretty, but the art itself is shoddy.

In my opinion, dan DOES fall into that category. Infact he pioneered that category. No he doesn't use it because it is easy, he uses it because it is his. Look man, I don't want to be your enemy to tell the truth, but when you use that style and claim it as your own kinda gets on my nerves. I am not here to make enemies, only to express how I feel about people using other peoples styles.

As junkycow said in his thread (which you should have read, I guess) he was drawing that way on paper before he'd ever heard of Dan, and Paladin even jumped in to protect him (as Junky did for Inkyboy, hmm...). Also, you can't "steal" an art style. You can be inspired by or even use it, but you cannot steal it from the original user. Also, if you are good enough to make great pics with it, then you have earned that style (not that you have to).

Inkyboy i am loving your peices, You have really utelised these techniques you have witnessed into a style that albeit common is rarely pulled off well. I think my personal favorite is wut, I really like the angle and such and the obvious effort you have put into this pic. Keep up the good work. :D

Nobody has 'stolen' a style. A style is what you make it. I 'stole' somebody's style, and morphed it into my own. That's why I get a few comments sayin' how original my art is..

I agree, you can be influenced, but to what degree are you being influenced before you are drawing just like the other person? In my opinion that is stealing, but then again, you can say it's influence just as much as I can say it is theft.

I mean, if I were to paint a similar picture by Vincent Van Gogh, and paint it with his style, and same usage of color, etc. to the point where people would buy it thinking it was by Van Gogh, not me, then I could weasel my way out of it by saying "Oh, I was just influenced by him ^^" couldn't I? Nah, I think not.

You guys can keep going thinking your style is an influence of another, and you can criticize my analogy all you want, but I will think what I want, and you want you want, because no one is going to change their mind (as usual on the BBS -.-) and now everyone is all jumbled up.

Felipe you make a good point ut let me just point out, they are not profiting, selling or claiming 'ownership' of this style, they are mearly using it to creativly express themselves. BTW InkyBoy. Where are you? This page is nearly completely void of all artwork. D:
