I Lost $3,000...

No I didn't physically lose $3000 in cash. I lost it in the fucking stockmarket that I haven't been paying attention to in the last 3 days. The reason I haven't payed attention is because all of my stocks had been going steadily up for the 3 months.

I owned about 100 shares of Merck Steel and a bunch of other stocks that are in the NASDAQ and DOW industrial stock compositions. Nasdaq and Dow both have sunk in hundreds of dollars per share due to the small stock crash in China, and a report from the Federal Bank of the US that there is a SMALL tiny chance that the US might see a recession for the first quarter of 07.

If I were to sell my stocks right now, I will have lost about $3000 dollars, but still be slightly up in profit from where I started 2 years ago. If I keep them, and hope that the stocks might swing back up, they might go even further down and I could lose almost $11,000 worth of stocks that are in my portfolio. Most of these stocks are my dads that he gave me.

I woke up this morning and check my messages, and my dad left 4 messages saying "Sell damn it, sell!! ahhhh, sell this much of that stock, and that stock..." but it was too late.

I'm pissed. i was going to buy a fucking Jet skii

Awful. I know the exact feeling.

I was about 13 and my parents and I started out by buying fucking Nortel shares. My $1000 had turned into about $150 by the time I could blink, but it's not like I reacted very quickly either.

Such a bad feeling in the pit of my gut for months after every time I looked at Nortel share prices.

Ouch! That is why my parents put investment into their ocean view house. It is costing around $500,000 to build but will be worth possibly $2-3 million. But my parents want to live in it and leave it to me as I am an only child.

I guess you're trying to say that I suck at the stock market. But actually no I don't because technically I'm still in the green, and the only reason I lost this money is because I wasn't aware of what was going down.

I'm also asleep when trading starts in New York so I can't really be on top of things every day.

Foreign policy doesn't really have shit to do with the recent lull in the stock market. And the Stock market is all about speculation, stock price drops most of the time have nothing to do with the performance of the companies that the stocks represent.

China's poor stock performance doesn't really effect the US economy that much (except for Americans who own Chinese-based stocks), but people tend to get paranoid and start selling stocks that MIGHT be compromised, thinking that other people will be selling them also. When people start selling alot of a stock, the value of the stock goes down. So people are racing to sell their stocks before the value gets too low, to salvage their earnings... its a vicious circle.

But if nobody sold their stocks, or nobody heard about the Chinese stock lull, it wouldn't have effected the US stocks in what is called "actuality stock performance" based on the actual strength of the companies the stocks represent.
