I was looking around the Internet when i found something a little creepy. Its about predictions by Nostradamus. For those of you who dont know, Nostradamus made preditcitons, many have come true (I think about 90%)So accurate they say the year things will happen. He predicted the Rise and fall of the sovit union, apperantly he also knew about 9-11, he even predicted the rise of the Nazi gov't in Europe. He also predicted events leading up to WWIII and what happens is it. He said that the events of 9-11 would trigger many things to happen "The chief of London through the realm of America,
The Isle of Scotland tempered by frost:
King and Reb will face such a treacherous antichrist,
That he will place everyone in the conflict.
" Interprataion: Britain and America will fight an antichrist whose treachery starts a large war. He predicts some weird things. For one, America will be seen as the enemy in this war and will have many nations fighting it and almost no nations fighting with it. The biggest of all is China. Who have already thought about how to fight a war with america http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a38d6500918fe.htm
. But the weirdest part is when he says America is invaded, he says that Britan would fight With the US to start, but would be involed in the Invasion of the USA. I just find that kind of cool. It also says that many cities will be nuked including the complete destuction of Rome when nukes fall on it. Anybody think this could ever happen? I used to never belive the guy until alot of the stuff he said has started to happen

I know what your saying, and thats what everybody who doubts him says. But it cant be a lucky guess that he predicted 9-11 right down to the day it happened.

century X quantraint 66... pretty freaky.. although he didnt predict 9-11, the thing going around the internet about that was a hoax, the date was 90 years after nostradamus died...
he also talks of an eagle many times...
the worst thing is though, nobody decodes nostradamus until AFTER SOMETHING HAPPENS... personally i think he was a prophet... i think he saw the future...
and until we figure out how to stop the end of the world from happening we be fucked...
learn to decode NOSTRADAMUS... then shazz-bat, we will win the final battle...

Come on Nostadamus was not a prophet, he was loon. Look people also used to believe you could see the future by gutting a sheep and poking around in it's guts. It was called oneiromancey and passed out of style the point is if you look hard enough you could try and the future with monkey crap. Just because something was written down a long time ago that doesn't mean it's right.
I mean hell maybe six hundred years from now someone will dig up my old high school social studies reports and think they're prophecies. Hey that's not a bad idea...

In general, Nostradamus can not be proven or disproven, but I can highly doubt that 90% of his theories have been proven fact. It helps that he makes very general assumptions about things that are going to happen and that people were incredibly religious and superstitious at the time. As for the "Steel eagles will rock the metropolis, the sky will burn at 45 degrees" theory on 9-11, that has been proven as a hoax, as was said. There is only mention of the sky burning at 45 degrees, which would mean ANYTHING if you think about it.
Nostradamus and Ms. Cleo are of about the same psychic caliber.

How can you say he was a loon? I mean what about Moses and Mohamed? People have based there whole religion on visions these men say they saw. Maybe Michel de Nostradame did see all of visions but just didn’t know how to put it all together. Words get twisted through time and maybe a lot of the prophecies he declared have been exaggerated to fit actual events after the fact but I think there might be some truth to his writing.
The rhymed quatrains of Nostradamus were written mainly in French with a bit of Italian, Greek, and Latin thrown in. He intentionally hid the quatrains through the use of symbolism and metaphor, as well as by making changes to proper names by swapping, adding or removing letters. The obscuration is claimed to have been done to avoid his being tried as a magician. Of course a skeptic might say it was done so the quatrains could be interpreted to fit numerous situations.
Beasts ferocious from hunger will swim across rivers:
The greater part of the region will be against the Hister,
The great one will cause it to be dragged in an iron cage,
When the German child will observe nothing.
So does Hister actually refer to Hitler? An instance of Nostradamus changing letters around? Is this a reference to Germany during WWII?

The sand will shift.
Force from all directions.
Rending the desert.
Now, I just made that one up and asked about 20 people what it meant, claiming it to be Nostradamus. A little less than half said "Iraq War, what a genius." Some said the earthquake in Pakistan a few days ago. Some said the earthquake in Arkansas. A few said Afghanistan.
It's easy to take what you want from words.

That's just what I was about to say. Nostradamus' prophecies are vague and are open to different interpretations. Given a major event that just happened, there's a pretty good chance that one could find words that Nostradamus said, and see that they could be interpreted to "foretell" the event that just happened. Nostradamus made so many prophecies that many events that actually happened, such as the rise of Hitler and WWII, have been interpreted to be the meanings of some of them. You just have to take them for what you will.

Good point. I'm going to try that in school tomorrow. Nostadarmus was a poet, not a psychic.

Poetry seems to be the quickest link to "psychic" powers.

I predict that at some point in the near future, a topic on NG will be ridiculed.
I further go on to say that somewhere, right this very moment, a bad flash movie is about to be deleted.
And a specific prediction:
In the fall a new movie that has never been seen will rise to the #1 of all time on NG.

Truly, thou art the prophet. Yea, verily, guide us with your wisdom. For lo, in that very hour has your first and second sooths come to fruition. All hail the great prophet shrike! The ground on which you stand must truly be the holiest of sediments. Let us build an altar unto thine step-son. (note muslim reference here)

Nostradamus has said that the end of the world will come after the assination of the pope wich well then trigger a global religious born and supposedly the anti-christ will reveal himself...we all know this isnt true america will be the cuase of the end of the world.Moses took mushrooms and he saw god who know what nastradamus dabbled in...why do we decode his word after it is done and after an event has happened we find more of his secret predictions.History is a cycle of high powers become more powerful till there downfall and back up into power is another group maybe he got lucky but his titanic prediction still baffles me he got it on the money and said that man will think he has built something that not even god can touch for this they will perish.

nostradamus did opium while making his predictions...
why do we decode his word after it is done and after an event has happened we find more of his secret predictions.
cuz its easier to figure it out AFTER the thing happens...
