Yeah, apparently a long absence from general and time taking it's toll on my mind has gotten me to forget the one rule about general: lurk.

That said, one of the cartoons I can toss out from the 2000's perspective that was mildly entertaining was Ed, Edd and Eddy. Dunno why, that one just amused the hell out of me with it's simplicity.

Nowadays children apparently need humor that tapers to their INDIVIDUALITY, so that they can think what they're watching is awesome, even if they don't realize that it's fucking horrible.

There was a time when people, young and old, could just sit down and watch a good ol' cartoon together. That reinforced family time. But nowadays, what? Either parents are too busy to watch TV with their kids, thus making the cartoons more "kid-oriented", or parents just find these cartoons stupid.

Either way, not good.

Hell even stuff like spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Nuetron aren't to bad...

I'd argue that Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Billy and Mandy at least, are actually for us Gen-Y'ers, not for little kids.

I'd agree on the fact that a while back, there was a poll on the age groups of people that watched Spongebob and shocking enough the age group of around the 20-30 range actually was a larger audience than children were. Strange, maybe, wrong I don't think so at least.

Cartoons were not really that great in the 90's but they were entertaining nonetheless. I've really just plain stopped watching them entirely, mostly because there are usually better things on if you just search around a little.

and next time you make a topic, don't make on that's been done 20 times. =/

But since it is still going it can be considered an 00' cartoon even if it was conceived before then.

and the majority of it's ongoing life was spent in the current decade =/

Seriously dude, cartoons now are better in every conceivable way than they have been in the past.
Better plots, better animation, better music. BETTER EVERYTHING.

80's cartoons were retarded. They sucked. But they catered to kids, and those kids are now 25 and half-insane on some Transformers-induced high that will never go down :o

NEVER GO DOWN. Fuck yeah.

There's too much entertainment competing nowadays. Cartoons don't pull their weight as much anymore against the internet and video games. But in the 80's, the nintendo still hadn't sucked out the life of every kid. ( sadly )

You have no idea how much that comment made me laugh. XD

Stupid standards for today's cartoons limits the amount of things that can be done in them, so it's always a shame when you see something like Camp Lazlo come along and it then makes you wonder 'could this really be made by the same person'?
