this would be neat
I mean, they didnt include a dvd player into the gamecube even though they should have
but I was playing defender and I see a "the making of" parts with full video along with the whole game itself
so it gives me the impression that they could put entire movies on those little GC disks
maybe even sell the games with a movie included

The little discs are just tiny DVDs. There would be no reason for companies to publish DVD titles on this media.

yeah you could fit one movie with no exrtra dvd features on a gc disk
i belive its 1.5 gb so yeah...
but there would be a loss in money to publish gc movies...
anyway panisonic was suppose to bring out at some point there game cube that can play dvds and music cds... well i reacall that was the plan...

thats why I was saying that they should include a movie with a game title
even if they really dont go together
nintendo is writing the disks with whatever info anyway, so it wouldnt be much of a cost to write a movie instead of a game

I just got dot.//hack for ps2 and it came with a 45 minute anime DVD. It's been done, it's a good idea too. I don't know why GC missed the boat on that one.

Because it's inferior to a regular DVD, and the production cost is the same.

I've seen a couple games with video "extras." But producing videos exclusively packed with a game is costly and won't bring up sales very much, that's why Sony & Xbox aren't doing it very much either. A lot of games have way too much memory left over and it'd be nice to have a cartoon or "making of" video on there, but it's all about money.
By the way, Nintendo was smart not including the DVD player for their system. They actually make money off console sales this way! And look at the other systems: Sony's DVD player is really, really crappy... but it's Sony electronics, what do you expect? And for Xbox you need to spend about $50 just to be able to use the DVD player. On top of all this, most people have a DVD player or DVD-ROM (or both) in their house already. Most people say Nintendo made a bad move, but they've been in the business longer than most of us have been alive, they know what they're doing.

they have to have 2 disks for most DVDs now, with all the special features and shit, so why do you think they would be able to fit it on one GC disk?

psh. gamecube... making dvds for gamecube only would like be burning a sack of million dollar bills. dvds do ok on their own, but if they made a dvd for ONE KIND OF PLAYER jeebus christ. imagine everybody that buys dvds. now imagine how many of those people have a game cube... not nearly as many. gc dvds = loss of $$$
