Gin tastes kind of like pine as a previous reply stated. It doesn't taste exactly like that.. it just sort of reminds me of it. Mainly it is considered a very refreshing drink for the warm months.
It really depends what kind of gin you get too, because companies like Bombay have a sapphire blend that is distilled from berries and other natural crap from all these different countries, and there are something like 5 or 6 different grains in it.
It's expensive as shit though. I recently bought a litre of Gordons London Dry (most common) gin for 16 dollars at a duty free on my way back from the states, but usually a 26oz bottle will cost at least 25 dollars in canada.
