And so the clock crew did bequeath,
bequeathed unto the DAG,
all of their stupidity,
wrapped up in a bag.

In Ignorance they boiled it,
with sprinkling of poor puns,
and jokes about some man-tits,
prostitutes and nuns.

For three long weeks it boiled,
while FUNK made his plan,
He tried to join the PC,
tried to "stick it" to the man.

His DAG was shot down,
they didn't want his soup,
they'd refused his poison,
but he would never droop.

He called out to the masses,
"Join me N00bs, hear my name!",
He did attract the lesser folk,
to them, it was a game.

He now posts with abandon,
ectasy and glee,
riding on the coattails,
coat-tails of the PC.

A group of devil's advocates,
is what they were to be,
good to bad, and sad in it,
betwixt and in between,

With people at near-PC level,
and those so far below,
the DAG attracted newbies,
continuing to grow,

From level twos to level nines,
DAG spanned the ranks of new,
with cries of MINE, and yells of SWINE!,
FUNK was born anew.

A BBS revolution,
was the legacy he did preach,
but he had no solution,
it was beyond his reach.

So he looked to the ruling power,
and saw that it was good,
decided to try to topple it,
just because he would.

With feeble blows and tiny shoves,

I know Judge Dredd was such a poor comic-2-movie adaptation, but remembering the end where the entire council had been wiped out, and the young recruits said, "Dredd, we've voted you to be the new Supreme Councilor" ..to which Dredd said, "nah, i'd rather be a street Judge"

My efforts before joining Politics forum was to recruit more Judges - not to make myself THE JUDGE - which is what HarshX is about, and what PC ranking is about (PreacherJ sez it's normal behavour) but FUNKbrs at least tries to reverse the ranks or make "anti-elitism" a group aim worth joining (Check our manifesto ;)

have you ever heard of group dynamics? ..this is how i see it;

nearly everyone on NG is "normal society" disfunctional in some way (this site actually feeds on it) and as NG user spend time in this shared collective, they find that others think the same way (politically or otherwise) and groups naturally form. Then the few who don't fit into the main group - classed as "NG users we should avoid", the new outsiders are forced into a lesser group or face total isolation (rejection)

the Devil's Advocates are such a group. Shihs and FUNKbrs masterly poetic prose bare witness to this event.

Point Taken. Still, the Politics Forum is an unusual place for this. It is Something I'd expect to find in clubs and crews, or general, or something. Meh.

Again, the uninformed are questioning the existence of the DAG. There used to be an "Explain the DAG" thread, but everyone read it, and quit posting. For you newcomers, here goes:

The Devil's Advocate Group (DAG) is a group of individuals dedicated to debating unpopular sides of arguments to create more useful debates. Also, we are dedicated to openness of mind in debates, and the willingness to concede to valid arguments.

For example, most debates in the Politics forum polarize themselves (ie, the debators start using personal attacks and the whole thing becomes a flame war). However, as Devil's Advocates, we are willing to be wrong, and find no shame in admitting this. If an opponent makes a valid point, we concede it, and move on to more important or disputed parts of the argument. This way we can achieve the true purpose of the debate, which is always to reach a valid conclusion upon which personal action can be taken.

That being said, we also have stylistic markings as a group. We tend towards the arcane and demonic, mainly because it fits with our name. ST DAG is a concept we came up with. He is the patron saint of idiots who shut the hell up. So instead of saying,"You are an idiot, shut the hell up!", we can make a reference to ST DAG. For example:

Idiot: U r teh n00b we shuld keel the aribs!

DAG: *kisses emblem of ST DAG*

This way everyone who knows about the DAG will understand that this idiot should shut the hell up, but the idiot, idiotic as he is, will not get the reference, and thus not close his mind to the argument of the DAG member. Likewise we strive to avoid animosity with other posters, although we do love screw with the PC, who see us as upstarts. However, this rivalry is all in fun and has no real purpose other than humor.

Well most of us try and avoid personal animosity, Cannibal tends to tick people off for the sake of it.
