Adolf Hitler, a highly decorated WWI veteran, leader of the socialist party. Except the fascist and racist aspect of him, Hitler was an incredible person. He got Germany out of the depression and really uplifted the countrys spirit. Unfortunately, with his skillfull use of propaganda and the ss, he took over the country and tried to eradicate all its "enemies". Read up on him, he was supposedly and excellent soldier and had some very odd personality traits.

What really sucks about it and most people don't realize is how many aspects of German culture were tainted by the Nazis. The swastika for example was originally a solar symbol associated with Thor, it meant strength and purity. Now all it means is evil and hatred.

Being a fashist isnt a problem. I know some perfectly nice fashists. We agree on most things, except they think power should be given to one man, and I believe it should be in a democratic kinda way. Fashists aren't evil. Rascists are.

My most respected culture (outside of the U.S.), Imperial Germany, 1860-1914. They treated their colonies better than any other European power, even treated blacks as their equals, fought smarter and more courageously than anyone else, built a unified empire out of fragmentary principalities and dukedoms and strove to be a world power. More than anything else, I admire their martial pride, tactical brilliance, integrity and strength. If Germany had won the First World War, as it should have, the world would most likely be a much better place.

Im not sure about that thor thing, but it is also a buddhist sign. Hitler was a believer in religion. If you can see any other pieces of nazi culture, you can see that he also had replicas of the lance used on jesus at his crucifiction in parades, and replicas of atlantis( im not sure what that meant).

He wasnt elected. he gained power in the Reichtag when it burned down. But you're right. His very skillful use of Propoganda meaned he gained many supporters amoung the German people.

He was elected, but he didn't have a majority. So he burnt down the Reichstag (they found a Dutch Communist called van Der Loube) which gave them a pretext for anning the second most popular party in Germany, the Communists. He then held another "election" (it wasn't free) but failed to get the majority he wanted. So then I think he just threatened a few members of the reichstag to vote itself out of existance or something about Presidential powers.

It was a native american symbol as well, a lot of cultures used it. Hitler wasn't religious, but he was spiritual. Hitler took a lot of various rituals and beliefs for his personal use. The whole nazi supernatural branch isn't entirely urban myth.

I like Native American culture. I am sure many Native Americans living today aren’t as true to the culture as they use to be. I admire the purity of their lifestyle and the consciousness of how important the earth is to our existence. I’d have to say that I find Ancient Egyptian culture irresistibly interesting though. The way they thought of the world and their concept of afterlife is really remarkable. I can’t seem to fully grasp the understanding of how such a grounded civilization could dissolve.

I don't have any I admire the most.

Sure, but at least the American's don't steal technology from other nations and call it their own. This is a big topic for me: the Japanese are scavengers. They take ideas, twist them around a little and call the entire idea their own. Here's an interesting thought: is the Pontiac Vibe a copy of the Toyota Matrix? Hell no. The Japanese stole the idea from the Americans which was a concept at the time, spent a year on the project and came out with the Matrix before the Vibe. Is that bullshit or what? And if you think that this is the only instance, you're wrong. Japenese steal German models all the time (even Porsches), tweek with the engines a little bit, keep the bodies the same and get their own patents for the cars.

Japanese - My grandma is Japanese. I also like their food, their animation... their work ethic... the videogames, the girls... lol.

Canada - Sometimes I think America bashes them way too much. I think of them as the friendly neighbors that take a lot of crap. Well, most of them are friendly anyways...

Tons of other cultures are cool, too. I just can't specify any big reasons for the others because my mind is blank.

True. Most of Japanese culture is borrowed. Even before the Western influences came into play, they ripped a lot of their culture off of China.

I admire the Norse.
The Norse did EVERYTHING. They were explorers, traders, excellent warriors, poets, and inventors.
Their courage and ferocity has never been equaled by any fighting force before or after.
In the short time they were strong, they turned Europe totally upside down.
The Norse were, on my opinion, the greatest civilization ever.

You have to love the Romans. Something so dignified yet so incredibly savage about their way of life. I would love nothing more than to go back and be able to see what a simple day was like for them. I could almost write a book about it. Again. Out there among the marble and Colliseum. (I have no clue if I just spelled it right. I was too lazy to look it up). It would just be fantastic.

The Romans feared the Vendels. The vendels were a proto-scandanavian civilization who pre-dated the Norse by few hundred years. The only real difference between the Vendels and Norse was their religion.
The Norse worshiped Astrau, while the Vendels had some earlier pagan religion, probably very similar to Astrau.

Personaly (and i havent been able to find anyone who agrees with me) I like Russian culture. Before the collapse of the Sovit Union (its not got much left know) I studied Russsian history (partly for school partly for intrest) and everything thats happened there facinates me. I'm not even sure why. One of the biggest things is during WWII, when many people were willing to be killed to protect there homeland, it was all that stopped the Germans.

Thats what i think anyway

I agree with you there, the utopian ideal of the Soviet was cool as hell. THEY were the ones to launch "sputnik", the first satellite. America didnt have shit on them when it came original thought. Too bad they suck at practicality, though.

Morst?

My most admired is also Japan (..prolly koz their girls are topz! ;) But also because of the beauty implicit in their spiritual, cultural, geographical, ceremonial, and technological prowess.

Consider thou, how well they borrow from others (as all countries do) but taking concepts to the furtherest limits of development...

Here's a good example;

The biggest Japanese Shogi (chess) is Tai Shogi, which dates back to before the 17th century. It's played on a board 25 x 25, and each side has 177 pieces - a typical game could take over 1000 moves by each player to finish. To add to the complexity, each side has an emperor AND a crown prince, and you have to capture both of these pieces in order to win. As if this wasn't hard enough, the emperor has a move that allows it to travel anywhere on the board, so long as it does not capture a protected enemy piece!

In most Shogi variants (some as small as 4 x 5), any captured piece may be re-used in one's own army (notice the color is the same on both sides) as games become torrid barrages of complex attack. Moreover, pieces become empowered when entering the enemy zone - not just when reaching the far end as in western chess.

The variety of pieces (over a hundred different representations) include exotic animals such as; free tapir, drunk elephant, vermillion sparrow, enchanted badger, and fire demon) all of which have uniquely powerful moves; such as the "hook mover", which is like a rook that can go round corners - moving any number of spaces in one orthogonal direction, followed by any number of spaces in a direction at right angles to that.

..THAT is some Awesome Intellect !!!
