Aaaaaaw shucks! I pity da fool with a 56k!

Well, internet always seems to go up in price, like up here, in Canada, (well, at least my part) we recently got a limit on our uploads/dowloads per month, and after you go over, they charge you more! Bastards!

The ever-lasting fight to keep something free in a world ruled by capitalism. Good luck Tom...

sorry your plan hit a snag big guy.

if it means anything, NG loads pretty fast in Uzbekistan! maybe there are other ways around the bandwidth problem besides buying more. i can think of a few.

That sucks, I imagine the policy change has to do with your provider's security. Well I hope the makeshift routers work fine and that NG continues to grow.

Well, it probably has been asked before...
But how much bandwidth does NG use up?
At the company I work on we have a lot, videos, pictures... but I bet nothing like Newgrounds.

Dedicaded servers with 100 Gigs / Month cost from 30-100 Dollars rent over here, so I really wonder how you people manage all this.

My respect, and best wishes for the future.

heya tom
i have a suggestion and im also going to admit to something that may get me in trouble but i hope my honesty will show you im not a bad person.

why don't you under every review have a box saying "to stop you putting up crap web sites put your web site in here and it will show up on only your reviews" so then ppl at places like outwar or someone who wants to just say heres my site get the chance to.

anyway i said i was going to admit to something and here it is, i have posted 3 outwar signs on newgrounds so i hope you can see why iv put this so everyones happy and so are you.

good luck with the faster pc's.

Good idea with the pc's, hope it comestogether for ya.

Yea, I think Cisco maybe the only way to go.

20, 000 per month? What is that.. 45 Mbits? You said you get it cheap so could it be 100 Mbits or Fiber? I do know basic T3 (45 Mbits is 20, 000 per month)

I was also wondering if there would be any site downtime...

Thanks

thats not exactly the point tom wants to stop the spam of outwar because its a waste of time and also ur box thingy of crap site would be useless since it would take up space and also not necessary.

If you haven't heard they get their internet cheap! Meaning if they switch to a new ISP, it will just cost them even more.

Err, sorry for over posting what I meant was, they capped out download/upload speeds to 1.5/.02 Mbits, so I uncapped it to about 40 Mbits and it works like T3 speeds.

Sounds like quite the perdicament. This past christmas, I bought myself a D-Link Router, to run this computer and another. I also got it to run my PS2 online. It works fine, some stuff messes up sometimes, but nothing's perfect, atleast I can get on both computers and play online on my ps2 all at the same time. But your idea of having a few computers for routers...that's a wild idea. I hope you all get it to work.

That's a pretty neat-o idea using superfast computer as makeshift routers, but I know nothing about it.

Hope it works, because like Captain Bob said, I would love to see Newgrounds grow bigger........so big that the internet can hold it and it will blow up in a massive force equal to the punch of twenty A-bombs and we will all perish from a computer that just hit us in the head. I can picture it now.

that's okay Tom, i won't hold it against you.=)

but that's good that you can just use PCs instead of routers. Very pratical solution for a big problem. Hopefully the site will be running good after said PCs are hooked up. great job Tom!!!

Thanks for the effort Tom. I appreciate that you've managed to keep this site going for as long as you've had. And I understand that sacrifices have to made, along the way, so it can keep on going.
