actionscripting backgrounds scrolli

i need to make my background scroll when i get so far to the right or left like wen im in the center area i guess, its a side scrollin fighting game, can somebody post a code and put in caps wher ei need to put the names of the Instances like HERO and BACKGROUND and stuff liek that? i also need to no how to make a wall so that wen i start off i cant go backwards or run through like buildings and stuff:P ive bene stuck on this for a while and have only been able to make my guy slowly fall through the level or wen he hits the wall hes on top of it and everything glitches up lol
