Well. Idol of mine, Chris Crawford is slowly getting closer to releasing the Storytron he's been working on with others for the past ice age. A new medium of interactive storytelling where players influence actors, as opposed to control characters.

Not sure what people'll get out of this, but http://www.storytron.com/ is there for people who want to see what's just beyong the horizon for storytelling beyond computer games. Of note is the Deikto language that looks like it's evolved out of Chris' old game, Siboot. A pictured conversation is below between a man with a knife and an actor the player is currently controlling.

Might inspire something

Adam and Joe - American Animation Adventure

This is a show i've found by chance tonight. I was looking for videos of Richard & Judy, and found my way to this R&J video. So I went to the site at the end, had a look around for a bit, came back and then realized Adam Buxton = 'Adam' from Adam and Joe.

Not really looked to much at his site yet because I got sidetracked at one part of it. It's a show Adam and Joe did for Channel 4 in 2001, and is all about animation. It's a comedy and each episode is a satire of some sorta presenting style, but interesting and relevant enough to let me post it here.

*ADAM AND JOES AMERICAN ANIMATION ADVENTURE*
Rugrats is probably the most interesting animation wise as it's in a studio and whatnot. I think that Gunboy was my favorite though (and features a funny interview with the bloke from I-Film).

They've done quite a few funny spoofs and skits and all that too, so check them out.

Where? On Youtube of course!

Ken Robinson talks about education

http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/66

This is interesting. Ken Robinson talks about the education system and discusses whether it kills creativity.

*Found on Graham Linehan's blog (WHY, THAT'S DELIGHTFUL!)

Pretty cool man. I liked the car one you pictured best. Its funny how you can play with that car one and appreciate it, yet you could just go load up GTA and do exactly the same but that'd be a bore as its just not the focus.

Does anyone know any flash sites like this? It's interesting to see what people can do, especially with Actionscript when I know little of it.

Charlie Brooker

"David Cameron is an idiot. A simpering, say-anything, dough-faced, preposterous waddling idiot with a feeble, insincere voice and an irritating tendency to squat near the top of opinion polls. I don't like him. And I've got a terrible feeling he'll be prime minister one day. Brrr.

These are unthinking snap judgments, based on little more than his media profile - but since he appears to consist of little more than a media profile designed to appeal to unthinking snap judgments, that seems fair enough. On that basis, let's stick to gut instincts, shall we?

There is nothing to him. He is like a hollow Easter egg with no bag of sweets inside. Cameron will say absolutely anything if he thinks it might get him elected. If a shock poll was published saying 99% of the British public were enthusiastic paedophiles, he would drive through the streets in an open-top bus surrounded by the Mini Pops. He's nothing. He's no one."

Charlie Brooker gets it so right in what he writes. Checkout some of his columns, and other works.

- Guardian columns
- Guardian Screen Burn columns
- Screen Wipe clips/episodes on Youtube

Seriously go out and google him yourself. Check out 'Nathan Barley' for one. If youre interested Buzz me and ill link you to some.

Orb

amazingly, this is free to use. but it is still in beta i think

you download the orb software to your main computer. then log onto the orb account you created on their website on a different computer and browse and stream your main computer's media through the internet.

NOTE: you only need to install Orb software onto the computer with the files saved on it. the one you use to stream them through the internet only needs internet access, the streaming system is completely browser based! (this means you can stream your computer's songs onto video game systems with internet browsers and the ability to run flash!)

plus other features that i haven't figured out yet, visit their site for more info:

yeah hes very funny. I love how he is just over the top analytical, but then can justify, like the first two paragraphs of the David Cameron quote above of his.

This was kind of a cool drawing excersize, its a flash app that works with your camera and allows you to draw yourself and publish it... it might be kind of cool to generate a few self portraits out of this. I'll probably do mine and kick it over to the art forum and see what people come up with.

Amazing art, done on the back window of a car using the dust and a brush. Some of them are amazing to look at.

The work of Julian Beever

Its astonishing. I particularly like his sidewalk drawings, especially the ones drawn in special distortion to give it an amazing 3d look, Like the globe below. His wall murals are good too.

I saw them before, it had a photo of one of them when your not looking at it from the right angle and it goes like 10ft down the side walk, clever stuff

Clips like these are reason why i love animating the human figure. Such a masterful study in how the human body works and how limber it can be ... meh i found it really inspiring.

Oh yeah mute the sound. Really awesome shit for other artsy people.

Too grand for words. I actually thought the sound added to the experience. It really made you feel Sisyphus' daily struggle.

Thats what this threads for :P

Anyway Id like to post something that kinda inspires me.

A few years ago I started listening to a band called Dredg. They arent that popular, ive never met anyone else who likes them apart from people I have introduced them to. Anyway, the band also create thier own artwork, which I absolutely love. I love the surreal style, and I love how they did a painting for every 2 songs on their new album, everything in which relate to the songs, for the book art. I love the connection between music and art.

Check out some of their art work on their website.

I also really recommend listening to some of their music too if you are a serious music fan, PM me if you love em as much as I do! I find they make perfect music to animate to.

You may have all seen the new Grand Theft Auto IV game in production. Screenshots, trailers, videos and even soundtracks will be available pretty much soon. Rockstar Games will be using their own RAGE engine for practically everything, in that RAGE hides a program designed by NaturalMotion. It's called Endorphin, a powerful 3D animation tool based on Dynamic Motion Synthesis. Namco, Konami, Rockstar and EA all use this powerful tool, its old, but very cool. Take a look at their website here.

Messed around with Endorphin a little bit, its a pretty cool.
I think its cool for games but it sucks the life/fun of figuring it out yourself. I think it loses some of the spontaneousness of doing it yourself.. the imperfections of animating how we percieve something moves is sort of a charm of its own.. to have a computer automatically calculate things for you and take away the unexpected and human touch is a shame in my opinion.
