Last time I checked jokes weren't copyrighted by the individuals who wrote them. It's pretty easy to point the finger at someone and claim plagiary. The sad truth is comedians have been stealing from each other for years. Dave Chappelle, Larry the Cable Guy, Dane Cook, they've all done it. Besides, "stealing" is such a harsh word. I'd like to think of it as a "modified joke."

Everyone here is just ganging up on Mencia because of his rising popularity. You can bad mouth him all you want, but you can't deny that his show is just as popular in the ratings as South Park.

I'd like to think of it as "Someone whos only value lies in being an organ donor." No good comedian has ever stolen jokes from another comedian, they make their own. Taking jokes that someone else wrote a long time ago and hoping that nobody already knows them, regardless of whether or not they switch around a few words doesn't justify the massive failure on their part. The real comedians are the ones that created that comedy in the first place, not worthless idiots like Carlos Mencia and Dennis Leary who parrot back their stolen material and hope that nobody bothers to notice.

Now IMO, I did briefly enjoy Carlos when I first saw his show, but the jokes got old, really, really quickly. Maybe it is because the jokes are really old, because Carlos is stealing jokes from the 70s! The video only guarenteed that I hate Mencia, and (if not enjoy) at least respect Rogan for what he did.

They said he stole 1/2 hour or so of George Lopez's material and played it on an HBO special. By the way Lopez throttled him, I'd assume that was true. And from the video, it's obvious that he's been stealing more and more from other people, even his best friend Bobby Lee.

Is thievery any less of a crime if the thing stolen isn't tangible? If you were a physicist and were developing some new law or theory, and some other guy steals parts of it and parts of your friends work, and gets a Nobel prize for it; wouldn't YOU be pissed? It's still other comics hard work being stolen and him profiting from it.

I think that the only reason Carlos is accepted as a comedian and not torn down as a racist is because he makes fun of his own people more than anything. I have little respect for someone who cuts down on the shortcomings of other people... much less alll people. Ok, I didn't say anything about Rogan earlier, so let me clarify:
I think he is ok. That's it: he is an OK comedian. Now on "Newsradio" he was f**king awesome, but that whole show was a classic. I remember tearing up when I heard about Phil Hartman dying, especially with how it happened....

BTW, how did Newsradio end? I never saw the last few episdes ;(
