The Anti-American Shiite cleric known for his strong ties to Iran and leadership of the Mahdi Army terrorist group has escaped from Iraq in anticipation of the upcoming US-led assault on insurgents and Death Squads in and around Baghdad.
Moqtada Al-Sadr fled to Iran, where he has received the base of his external support, and from whom, according to local US reports, his Shiite militia received advanced weapons including ESP (explosively formed penetrators) bombs that by themselves have been responsible for the death of 170 US troops.
I suggest you read the whole article.
What a pussy. He splits the scene like a fucking pussy, after all the problems he has caused with his loyal, brainwashed Shiite servants. But he's going to leave them behind and run away like a pansy to his Iranian supporter.
But I think this is a good thing, along with the other recent instances of the Mahdi Army disarming and disbanding across Iraq for fear of Iraqi PM Nouri Al Maliki's decision to allow US troops to begin to target them for their role in the sectarian violence in Iraq.
But this boosts the case against Iran, showing that not only does Iran provide Shiite militants in Iraq with weapons that have killed Iraqis and Americans alike; but Iran also provides safe-haven for Iraqi fugitives such as Moqtada Al Sadr who have been found to have participated in the sectarian violence and have disobeyed orders from the Democratically elected Iraqi government.
I believe that this makes the case that the upcoming American-led offensive utilizing the extra 21,500 troops that have been ordered to Iraq might just help. This will dismantle the death squads, and allow for a temporary peace that will be long enough so that Iraqi government can have enough time to prepare its forces to do this kind of thing on its own in the future.
I don't remember the exact estimate, but I read that the Iraqi forces are supposed to be at full strength and readiness by this summer. Therefore it is important that the US do this to buy time for the Iraqis.
What say ye?

I wonder how this will effect Nuri al-Maliki popularity. After all it was Sadr's support that got Maliki nominated. Heck I wouldn't doubt Maliki had something to do with Sadr getting out of dodge, like warning him and maybe even as much as transporting him. But who knows, it's a crazy place over there.

I'm not opposed to a war with Iran if it is justified (as the evidence is slowly piling up), but it is in no way a happy thought in my mind.

I wish it didn't need to happen. But I think it eventually will, it will be bad, very bad. But the war will give us an opportunity to disarm Iran once and for all.
It will be better to go to war with Iran and suffer the consequences, than to allow them to develope a nuclear bomb and go to war with them in the future. It would be better now to go to war when we can easily defeat their military and bomb their nuclear facilities into oblivion. They will respond with terrorist attacks across the world, but this is better than them using terrorist attacks with nuclear weapons 5 years form now.

I think if we go to war with Iran, we'll see the first suicide bombings in the United States.
We're in for a rough ride.
Plus, this can't be good for US realtions with Iran.

Wait... blowing up someone's shit makes them mad at you? Nowai!!!
And with the way these people fight, do you really find it that surprising that he beat feet when he got wind of the surge? Suicide bombers are a dime a dozen, it's the brains and political clout that are the real threat... the ones that can convince young retards that going boom in a marketplace is a good thing (hence our sharpened focus on them). He knows this, and also knows that his is the brain that need protecting, so he fled. This only means that he's gone now... he'll probably return later when the heat is lowered... or maybe to another area.
Though we should certainly press the advantage we'll have with him gone.
Tis better to sit in silence and be presumed a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Iran is really starting to fuck things up.
But there also smart, because they knew that the US can't take on Iran and have controll over Iraq at the same time without a draft of any kind.
What the US needs to do is to do the opposite of Iraq. Build up the evidence, present to the world stage or even the UN and try to hopefully get the backing and whatever support that is possible from the Internation community.
Or we could start firebombing Tehran and have massive firestorms go across the country.

Well I personally belive that the war islamic extremism should end where it REALLY began, Iran. But can't we just take advantage of any potential ethnic, religious etc. divisions it may have?

ppl have tried. there are powerful groups in Iran that hate the Ayatollahs (the Kurds for example).
while they are strong in numbers, no one has been able to convince them to revolt yet. but luckily for us, Ahmadinejad's hateful rhetoric is pissing a lot of Iranians off.

I'm sure they'll eventially catch Moqtada Al-Sadr and give him the justice he deserves, cowards like him defentlly deserved to be caught eventially no matter how far they'll run.
Taken for granted evil is defentlly on the run, but no matter how far it runs, their's always payback to deliver once good itself catches up.

Ehh, they're not from the U.S. or the U.K., I don't think the media will pay much attention if we kill them outright.

On one hand. We can't just keep jumping into wars like this. Even a military has strong as ours has very real limits. And the US has fabricated evidence inorder to go to war in the past. Don't for that.
On the other hand, Iran is not that strong of a military force. It might present the same problems that Iraq did, with small groups of extremeists, but they are in no way a threat to America militarily. And given the statements made by the Iranian president, he's made it known that he is no fan of the United States, Does this alone mean we should invade? No. But if Iran truly is aiding the Iraqi insurgency, it cannot go ignored.
