Everyone in my family are business people who run their own stuff.
Personally, I recently received a degree in IT (Software Application) and I was accepted to work as a sub-contractor for a web-design company. (In Australia, people don't like to pay tax so they just employ me as a separate entity and I just charge them an invoice upon completion of a project with 10% GST [Goods and Services Tax] instead of the regular 25%+ income tax)
... Now that might sound like a bad thing, but I think it's very good. That way, technically speaking, I get to be my own boss! And my "boss" is technically only my client.
So yay.

Anyway, your life story is pretty sad; I read through all of it and I get your point. The army will always "break" people's spirits before allowing them in; it's so that they can gain their full loyalty and thus... Control over them. But, luckily for you though... Bush won't be president for much longer.

You should however, be thankful that you didn't join the army. The Navy is pretty safe at this time, while the army.. Well.. Isn't. It's a shame both of your parents influenced you so wrongly (for lack of a better word). The skeptics on the military are the smart ones and you probably should've held your ground. Hope to hear from you when you get out, if I'm even still here (which I plan to be, but you never know). I know I would never survive in any type of country force. Dont worry guys i heard the navy is easy...my brothers in the marines and he finished boot camp he said it was hell but thats the marines the few. the proud.the navy is like really easy going compared to the marines from what i heard o.f and when your on a ship, for your free time you'll be sweeping the deck from what i heard of.XP. And you have less chances of getting shot.XP
