Techno: Clean fast melodies, some hardcore drum beats, low basses. 4x4 kick beats.

Trance: 4x4 kick beats, pads, soft drums, snare rolls, fast synths in backrounds.

Check out my stuff for more info.

Theres also Dance, House and Video Games.

Dance is more like, clubby and closer to a House style (when compared to trance). So think of Dance as the middle ground between Trance and House.

Video Game is like (usually) just toons from nintendo games reproduced electronically.
Most often they're in midi format and usually always basic.

But just go to the audio portal and have a listen. Sound beats words for description.

All this in the category of Electronica; your forgetting drum 'n bass
also there is harcore, ambient, downtempo, left-feild and trip-hop

a lot of these genres do overlap and some are redundant to a degree

thats true though that dance is the middle ground between trance and house... i like that
