Which one do you prefer, TES III or IV? My personal choice would be Gothic III, after all everyone who has the slightest idea of what a good RPG is knows that the Gothic games are a lot more fun to explore and to just navigate through. TES IV stole numerous features from Gothic II and failed at stealing and implementing them succesfully, if you have played Gothic I or II then you will agree with me.

Discuss.

I've only ever played Oblivion out of those two, and never heard of Gothic. I do like Oblivion, but not enough to donate lots of computer space to.

The Elder Scrolls V: Child Porn would be a better choice
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion would be a better choice

I've played and enjoyed both Morrowind and Oblivion. I actually prefer Oblivion to Morrowind and no not because of the graphics.

I played morrowind and oblivion. I think I still kinda prefer morrowind. Even though the graphics are better in oblivion as well as the combat I still liked travelling around in morrowind, fast travel in oblivion makes the game seem alot smaller.
Also the quests in morrowind seemed alot better, oblivion quests were too linear.

Its a hard desicion to make. What would be best is a combo of the two.

Morrowind
Pros
Much larger
Whole hell of alot more to do
More skills
More weapon types
Multispell Enchanting
Much More Open

Cons
Almost to much to do
Quest journal is hard to keep up with, you never know if you have finished something or not
Terrible fighting engine
Walking almost everywhere gets kinda tedious
Dated graphics

Oblivion
Pros
Excellent Fighting engine
Awsome Graphics
More comprehensive quest journal
Fast travel
More dynamic create a character
Horses
More dynamic AI

Cons
Way to linear and short
Not a whole lot to do
Quest marker makes game loose fun of exploring
Fast Travel
Horses are useless due to fast travel
3 types of weapons is lame
Even without fast travel the map is small (it used to take me a good 20-30 minutes of constant running and navigating to get from one corner of the Morrowind map to the other. It takes 5-10 to do the same in Oblivion)

There's an easy way to get around that. Go to a spell maker, such as the ones in Balmora, and have them create a spell which casts Resist Magicka on self, with 100 points intensity for a one second duration. Then quickly equip Boots of Blinding Speed, and you'll get the +500 speed bonus without losing vision. Although the aforementioned spell would regularly only have Resist Magicka for one second, the blinding effect of the boots would be negated for as long as they are equipped. This combined with levitation can mean you'll be able to go anywhere really fast.

In my opinion, Morrowind is much better than Oblivion. There's just so much more strategy and content.

Oblivion is less nerdy, and the fighting engine is a great relief from all of the other RPGs like morrowind. The fighting is probably my favorite part, and it makes it so much different from other RPGs.

If only Morrowind had the battle system of Oblivion. Thats the only thing that makes Morrowind suck total ass is the battle system. I have no idea how you can even stand to play Gothic lll that games has the most broken combat system EVER. I mean Morrowinds is bad but that game . So I guess if you can stand to play games with bad battle systems then Morrowind is for you.

id have to say oblivion. i love being a vampire even though there is the downside that you must do ALL quests at night or your screwed.the battle system is still slightly flawed. i wish they had included area damage, like you hit them in the head they take like 5x more damage instead of it goes all around. I'd have to say if there was a game i would play and appreciate more is Dark messiah of might and magic for pc. its got the best graphics and the fighting and everything is ingenious!

i have all three and i probably played Morrowind the longest

However Gothic 3 would easily be the best if it weren't so buggy

If you're asking which is better..Morrowind or Oblivion, then why the fuck did you choose Gothic three.

By the way, Oblivion kicks the shit outta anything else...

That's got to be the biggest "Idiot of the Year" statement I've heard in my life. My total gametime is 155 hours and I'm still not done with all the quests! Also, the Shivering Isles expansion adds another 30 hours.

Not a whole lot to do

Read above, moron.

Quest marker makes game loose fun of exploring

If you say so.

Fast Travel

Um, okay.

Horses are useless due to fast travel

In order to fast travel, you must first find the location by walking. Considering at the start of the game where all you can fast travel to is towns Ñ horses are extreamly useful.

3 types of weapons is lame

I agree. But Shivering Isles is said to bring more weapon types.

Even without fast travel the map is small (it used to take me a good 20-30 minutes of constant running and navigating to get from one corner of the Morrowind map to the other. It takes 5-10 to do the same in Oblivion)

Oblivion is still massive compared to most games.

Ok, why make a thread asking which Elder Scroll is better, then completely say something different.

I am split on my choice.

Gameplay:
Oblivion
Amazing Collsion detection, Easy to use controls, and awesome voice sinking/facial expressions, easy to read text, and pinpoint mapping systems make it easy to know where you need to go when you are in a hurry, and the fast travek function kicks ass.

Storyline:
Morrowind
multiple quest story lines, and a great storyline for the main story.

Character design:
Oblivion
Thousands of facial expressions hundreds of hair styles/colors, Eye color choosing system

Over all I lean more towards Oblivion but then I am still a fan of Morrowind.

Almost every game you own is a copy of some other, just an improved version. Oblivion would take the win for this one, but apparentally a new Heros of Might and Magic game is supposed to be superior to Oblivion.

really? THe last heroes of might and magic game i played was some strategy turn based thingy completely different from good old elder scrolls.
Oh and I prefer Oblivion to morrowind, They're both great but I think Oblivion is more fun to play and is less tidious. Though morrowinds huge map still rocks socks

I never played Morrowind much. But from what I remember it was far bigger than Oblivion. However, I love Oblivion to death, so I'll have to use my bias and go with Oblivion. Hopefull TES V will have the large scale of Morrowind combined with the awesome fighting engine of Oblivion, and we can have one killer game.

As long as they don't try to make it an MMO, I will be happy.

Oblivion is far improved.
I didn't like getting killed in the forest in Morrowind by some weak enemy.
There's less of that in Oblivion.

My computer's breaking down, so nope.
