Yeah, I vehemently despise the neo-liberal economic policies which are forced upon countries which desire to enter the EU. Such policies serve solely to benefit business and are grossly inequitable for the people. They raise prices, result in persistently high unemployment, and exacerbate the problem of resource mis-allocation. The people are marginalized to promote the interests of big corporations under the guise of "reforms." Reforms, my ass.

Since it's next month, expect the usual handwringing and teeth gnashing that the EU won't let the English celebrate St. George's Day as it may offend our European masters (or bullshit to that effect), while ignoring the truth: the Vatican said the story was bollocks, so he isn't a Saint - therefore you can't have a Day if you aren't a Saint. You won't get people saying we should leave the Roman Catholic Church, though.

Mainly as Henry VIII did a long time ago.

It's similar to the UKIP - they jump up and down saying the EU is bad, you ask them for examples, and they start to stutter. Anyone who saw Kilroy!'s rant in the EU chamber when elected as Euro MP will see this: he was saying "we" don't like the EU and what they're doing, complete with no examples, arguments or solutions. They just waited for him to finish and continued with their business.

We dont really celebrate St Georges day, it isn't our national holiday, we don;t have one.
Scotland should have St Andrews day, Wales St Davids day and England St Georges day

It isn't the EU not letting us. Allthough the Pope has De-sainted st george which is a cunt.
The Patron saint of England should be either St Augustine who brought christianity to England or St Edmund who was english. And protected Christianity from the vikings.

But St georges flag is the greatest flag in the world

The EU is more powerful that way.
Each country still has its individuality, but their bond is stronger. Also, the EU would prevent a 3rd world war. I think that someday Europe would merge as one nation and become the new world power.

Which reminds me: Dedwydd Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant!

Sorry...

That's what I said - they're just blamed by the Middle Englanders for ending it.

Let's face it, if the EU was against us and thought everything English offended them, why the hell does the Channel Tunnel have it's London terminal at Waterlook station? If we're not allowe dto do anything for fear of upsetting our European masters, it would surely arrive at any other majhor London station, wouldn't it?

More proof reading The Daily Mail won't get you very far. Or the Daily Telegraph, or The Sun, The Mirror, The Star...

I don't think the EU is against us, But I do think Germany and France have more power than the rest. which pisses me off.

I'm not saying Britain should lead the EU cause they shouldn't howether It pisses me off how it was Chuchills idea for the Countries of Europe to united after WW2. Then what happened a little while later?... Germany, France and Italy started the EU and wouldn't let Britain in until the 1970's - Germany and Italy the two major axis allies and France who Britain and America had to save.

And now France an Germany are the brunt behind the EU.

Several large countries werer formed in this way, the US and China being two of them. Difference is that China was united under one entity by a war of conquering everyone (I think) the US was united when fighting off the British and other countries with colonies in America and the EU, or as it would be called, the United States of Europe would just sort of drift together.

But yes, I don't like the idea of my country's soverignty being taken away.
