Agreed. Plenty of black people have run for president. Al Sharpton ran in the last election, and many have run before him.

It really doesn't. Opposing candidates will just do whatever they can to demoralize their opponent and if that means playing off the stereotype that black people are criminals and Muslims are terrorists, then they're going to do it. Obama just happens to be both.

Well I'm far from a racist. I work with african americans and go to school with them every day, but to be completely honest, if a black person was elected president he would probably be successfully assassinated within 2 weeks. I don't pray for this, like I said im not racist, but im just sayin how it is. There's still too much discrimination and hatred toward african americans in the united states and especially the southern half. Untill those close-minded little KKK bastards quit seeing in color, there won't be a black president.

Obama doesn't have to win. It's more important that he starts setting the stage for future black candidates so that they may have a better chance or ultimately succeed.
The same goes for Nancy Pilosi (no clue how to spell her last name) and Clinton.
I agree that this country could probably benefit from a black president, it would definately spark alot of social debates and even violence. But, such is the way things are during change.
As a white male, I truly think a black president, or woman president for that matter could do the job just as well as any white president. I have yet to hear much on his views and plans other than a couple of news reports. But, as the elections draw nigh I will hear more.

Not so much these days...the amount of people who are racist are outweighed by the amount that aren't.
The only states that a black person won't win for a looooong time are Alabama, Missippi, and possibly Georgia.
Everything else, there's a bleak chance.
I doubt that he'll win, and if he does, I'm sure he'll get assassinated. It will be then that I permenantly expat to Japan.
