The second one was great, with it's dystopian plot, but the second one went too far with it's blaming the whole thing on the U.S (regarding the concept of unruly school kids being culled by giving them guns and letting them kill each other).

Watch the first one, though.

I'd really suggest reading it first, not the manga cuz that's terrible, read the novel. It's very well written.
