Depends on the person, I'm a liberal democrat, however, I tend to lean to more privatized capitalism, which poor people would of course not support, however, I am far from greedy, because I believe, even in a capitalist society, welfare like benefits could apply, not welfare, but something like it. Whether it be through private organizations with benefits, kind of like the Loan Sharking of Bank Loans, in other words, non licensed/government controlled banking. Where as non government controlled welfare, could be controlled through private banks. Apply their own insurance policies, what normally would build up in savings accounts, would go to insurance, however, the few that need it, would make it like a casino, you've got a couple people winning the jackpots, but in the end, they're making the profit. As for people who don't work and need welfare. There's a fine line between needy and I'm lazy, and not having any job crosses that line. It's like the private police, but, a little more dependable.

Just because you're a Dem does not mean you're poor and just because you're a Rep does not mean you're rich. I'm 31 and a centrist Republican, and since I was 18 I've been a student, factory worker, security guard and junior enlisted in the military. Not the most high paying job history.

In fact in the 1990s my party reported most of its donations as coming from individuals and in very small amounts ($25-75 a year), compared to the Democrats who saw a decrease in individual donations and an increase in corporate donations.

Making a generalization on a such a small sample as yourself is not a good standard to judge the average finiancial picture of Democrats.
