Under Ted's suggestion. I invite everyone's views on the Rap genre to be heard. I'm going out to dinner, and will respawn the topic with my views later. Night.

rap sucks. the only people in the rap industry that deserve any respect whatsoever are individual rappers, and them only for talent. the rest is all looped-ass beats, and a repetitious gangsta (weed, hoes, guns, money) mentality. the shit is so repetitive you gotta poop it out twice. Rap is only good if youre stoned. Listen to the jazz song, "Mack the knife" the original writer was an ex german jew named Brecht. He wrote it for the "three penny opera" an opera for the common man. he invented "sprechstimme" or timed speech, now known as rap. Everything rap does now Bobby Darin did 50 years ago. The exectuion may have improved, but thats all thats changed. Reiterating my statement "the shit's so repetitive, you gotta poop it out twice."
My band Sin City ScoundrelsOur song Vixen of Doom
HATE.
Because 2,000 years of "For God so loved the world" doesn't trump 1.2 million years of "Survival of the Fittest."

I wonder where darkblueflame is...
Rap is like Country
The genre is completely dominated by one race, it takes no effort to make, and just like country, it's seeing a brief period of success before it sinks back into it's niche.

While I personally don't appeciate the genre, I'm surrounded by people who do. -_- Rap has taken an entirely different turn. Now it's all about skanks, bitches, and money. Remember when they used to rap about stuff like a new pair of sneakers?
It's true the genre consists of mostly blacks. But where would Eminem fit into the equation?

I don’t want to say that all rap is bad but most of it is simply ignorant. I mean almost every rap song promotes a lavish gangster lifestyle that degrades women. It amazes me when a rap song’s chorus is “hoes, hoes, hoes” and there are like 500 girls dancing and smiling in the video. Music should in my opinion express emotion or reach out to the listener. The rap artists blow up the radio and collaborate with pop stars to drown out any good music that had a chance to get play. Dead Prez is a really great group that has unique talent in rhyming. I personally prefer rock music. When you have to play an instrument or change the range in your vocals to create music I think that shows lots more talent. Can’t you see the difference between a rock concert and a rap concert? If you going to be a rap artist I think you should be a lyrical genius that can blow the other sell outs away.

Rap is qhat God made to punish the sinners, but it caught on and infected people. I think to write a rap song, you just have to have a drum beat, a bassline (on 3 notes) and say niggga, bitch, hoe, fuck, ass or cunt every second word.

The commercial rap with all naked women and fake gangster negro's sucks indeed. The underground and oldschool rap can be pretty fun to listen to from time to time. I don't mind hearing run DMC for instance, and i never saw a half naked woman in any of their video clips.

I can also talk about killing my wife, and taking drugs.
I can also do it very quickly.
Does that make me "good"?
It dosen't matter how fast you talk. Shit is still shit.

Seriously, it's okay to say you dislike a style of music, it's another thing to say the number one artist of that style sucks at it.
So the dixie chicks dont suck at country? And Britanny spears doesnt suck at hip hop? My point proven.

The answer is in the music....
Listen to the song "What's the Difference" on
Dr. Dre's "2001": "I got something to say, Dre,"
Eminem begins his rap, explaining that he wants to
confess while he is intoxicated. He says to Dr. Dre,
"I love you, dog," before lavishing him with praise.
On the song, Dr. Dre responds, returning the
affection, "I don't know if you ever noticed it, but
I've had your back from Day 1."
Seriously, it's okay to say you dislike a style of music, it's another thing to say the number one artist of that style sucks at it.
who said i didn't like him?
