Ornery's debut "Draw you" thread in the art forum.

Ornery dosent have any homework for a while, and he needs to keep up drawing during his down time. This means lucky for you.

Ornery has new set of fancy-shmancy pastels that he needs to break in, he will use you to do so.

Ornery talks in third person for no reason...

ORNERY HAS RULES THOUGH!!!!
1. ONLY pics of yourself will be drawn
2. Pics mus be decent quality
3. Ornery likes to take his time, be patient
4. Dont needlessly bump thread
5. Pics will be full finished images (not like the hunka shite sample pic), so relax.
6. Ornery will try his best to get to everyone who listens to the rules eventually

(Ornery would like to apologize to those from his last drawing thread who he didnt get to, the art forum was created soon afterwards and he lost his spark, he promises to do better this time, forgive him)

Art store near college. Ornery dosent live in Glasglow, or the the uk, or europe....

Well, ornery does do nude figure drawing 3 times a week, the more practice with that the better...

READ THIS ITS IMPORTANT!
If you have a pic that is to big, or you want better quality feel free to PM me it. Just say that you did in this thread to secure a spot in the lineup.
Also, I do do nude figures at school and need serious practice in it. So if you are willing (and over 18) feel free to PM me one if you dont mind it. Just know that it will be pretty detailed and might actually look like you. I promise I will not post the pictures elsewhere or anything of that sort, they will be deleted as soon as I finish the drawing. If you trust me (im much more mature than your average user) then go ahead with that, if you want more spesifics of what I am looking for in the pic I can PM you the info. Male or Female is welcome, makes no difference to me.

(and yes, eraser hates pastels. A kneeded eraser is decent for lightening areas, but it is terrible at removing cleanly)

Jesus, i'm sorry, i didn't think it was THAT small, don't wanna piss u off which i've obviously done since youve said that in practically every post since mine....
but anyway, incredible drawing, accurate except for the face, which only doesnt look like me because the proportions are somewhat off.... but as a standalone and not a portrait of a specific person, not bad at all
i can see it was worth it for you to spend the $$ for the expensive pastels....

Intresting view, I'm debating whether or not its clear enough for me to bother with though. I'll stick you in line for now, but dont be suprised if i skip over it. It would be because at that time I just didnt feel like working on something blurry.

I doubt I'll get any nudes, and frankly thats fine with me. It would be nice to not have to deal with clothes though (even though so far i've been pretty much ignoring them anyway).

I'll probably be doing this one to add some full body variety, maybe THEN people will send in some full figures instead of just head shots.

AND NOW A DRAWING!

I was proud of this one when i started, but like 98% of my drawings, the more I work on it, the more I hate it. I also have a problem of doing one eye fine, then fucking up when it comes to the second eye. This is becuase I go against my knowledge that "just because it looks bonkers in a contour outline, dosent mean it will look that way when done". Instead I do a vague contour, see that it is starting to look neanderthalish, and try to even it up with disasterous results. The camera also take alot out of this one, I tried photoshopping some of the original values back into it but I'm not terribly good at that. Oh well, hopefully I can punch myself into doing these right soon.

hey good job man, it's great to see someone dedicating so much of his time to make a kickass art thread. Just to think that 2 years ago you were being an emo bitch threatening to drink antifreeze.

One general tip I could give you is to work more from a sketchy base figure. I sense that you draw things one at a time, i.e. one eye, then the nose, then the mouth etc. and with that, you'll never really get the faces looking proportionate.
But hey, portraits are really hard to do.

Im just on stronger meds now, and havent broadcasted recent attepmts after realizing how stupid that is, otherwise not much has actually changed.

I start with a 6h pencil sketch of basic head shape and proportions, but as we both know, people dont really match up with that generic base (especially not the deformed mutants that populate the BBS).
I tend to start where the nose and eye meet, then complete the eye cheek area, move down to chin and up to hairline quickly so I've got half the face set, then I base the rest of the face on those proportions. I know its a bad method (my figure drawing prof is trying to beat it out of me ((his stuff can be seen here)) ) but its what I feel comfortable with sadly.

It's the other way around, 6H is incredibly hard and is very light. It would be 6B you're thinking about which is really soft.
