You can have HOURS of debate over that.
According to Lennox, he was never going to let it happen. He was playing along, and he was going to turn him in right before it was going to happen.
Personally, I think he was telling the truth. Right when he heard this guy wanted to do this, he knew he couldn't resign because he needed to expose this plot.
You can easily take it in the other direction of when he saw the president valued his opinion he decided he couldn't go through with it, but in my opinion Lennox would never have went as far as killing the president, because he's a patriot.
I agree he does seem as a POWER MONGER! but he is EXTREMELY loyal!
he does want to be president! but he does want to take a bullet for his country at the same time.
did that make ANY sense?
However what he did to Hayes was a DICK MOVE i got so angry, that was a little weasel type thing, but when ratting out the assassination that restored my likeness towards him.
do you think this is the LAST season? when IS the last season? any word on it? guesses?

I don't know about Bill B. They'd have to put him in a pretty strange situation for him to be killed, I think. Speaking of Bill.. where did Karen go? She got transfered to CTU as far I can remember, right?

I would be really disappointed if Chloe died. She's been one of my favourites since the beginning. They have made her look a little better since the second season. I don't understand because she's not very attractive on that show, but in real life she's pretty cute and extremely funny.
I must say that since the 2nd season I always thought Milo was one of the most useless characters and I wasn't excited at all when they brought him back, but after the past two epsiodes -- I'm starting to like him a little bit (tiny bit) more. They made his character do something out of the norm, and he didn't do a great job at it so it's pretty believable, and it worked. Anybody agree?

I'd like to formally join the Club, if that's ok.
I use the term "formally" because I'm still about half-way through season 5 (everything gets here late, in Italy), and I really, really, really don't want to ruin this season by reading some uber-spoiler or something.
Also, the show ROCKS.
Dude -- I am FORCIBLY joining this crew if necessary. lol
I have definitely developed an unhealthy obsession with this show. First got into it after much prodding in Season 5 -- and was completely hooked immediately. The first episode I saw was the one in which Jack interrogates Walt Cummings... with a serrated dagger pressed under his eye. That was enough for me to fall in love. I then went through an immersive blitz of all the episodes from S1E1 through current. Now everybody knows not to call between 9-10 on Mondays.
On the Chloe hotness thing - I'm really happy that's she been hottified this year. I'm diggin the hair and the black dress thing. She's clearly elevated herself to out-of-Morris's-league status and now is clearly entrenched in Jack or Milo-ville. Personally, I would propose option c) - hooking up with me.
Oddly enough, the insanely smokin' hot chick to join the cast this year, Nadia, I've been sadly predicting from the first episode will turn out to be the mole. I'm so hoping she's not, but frankly, she's just too awesome and too knowledgeable to NOT be the mole. I'm hoping I'm wrong, 'cause I think she is much hotter alive than she would be dead (and thus off the show, which would just be unacceptable at this point).

Milo definately earned his keep this week, took a bullet but yeah he's a HORRIBLE shot he couldn't hit them when they were in the open lol wasted a whole clip oh well.
With the Bill B death... I agree it would be a REALLY hard position or w/e to kill him, I could only think if someone got into CTU again or a bomb hits or something..
Karen? I don't know she dissappeared she should be back next week I hope.

I am the same exact way. I got forced to watch the first episode, and it's been downhill since then. My mom knows not to call, but she does anyway and leaves a long message during the show. WHY?!

Honestly, I think if they made her a mole there would be a lot of controversy. I could just see it now... everyone would think that we suspect everyone from the Middle East to be against us. If they did make her a mole.. that'd be pretty good. I wouldn't see that coming.

See, I have mixed views on that -- I think they can't/shouldn't kill a sitting president. (As many know, the attempt to "kill" Keeler in S4E18 is widely understood to have been successful, but essentially the Fox executives overruled the show and said you have to claim he was just "incapacitated." Most show viewers sort of tacitly understand that he's dead, regardless of the show's concession to Fox.) I can understand that it would be a particularly big "line" to cross on a popular TV show to even acknowledge the horror of a sitting president being assasinated... again. Stirs up a lot of historical and emotional points that are just too strong for some people. I get it.
That said... screw Wayne. I hate Wayne. There, I said it. I hope he bites it. They've already made comments on the show that Wayne doesn't measure up to his brother... and I've had to repress a chuckle ("Yeah... no kidding he doesn't..."). Wayne blows. And now I'm quietly hoping that he blows UP.
I know it can't/won't happen, but I can dream.

Frankly, no. But, either way, I wouldn't care. To look like that at "79" would qualify you as defining the new category of GRILF.
Interesting subplot by the way connecting to 24 - Milo is actually in his mid-20's I believe, making his extensive experience in CTU and other areas somewhat of a stretch, whereas Jack is actually 40 or so, making his rather lithe athleticism on the show either remarkable or unusually enhanced. (Then again, they're not that far from Barry Bonds's training facility, so they'd have more than ample opportunity to be... prepared for physical exertion.)

He was acting pretty emo. They just don't like it when things aren't going their way.
Nadia: Is smoking hot! I wouldnt be surprised if she was a mole, however, i cant imagine it happening as it would be much to easy for her to fall into the JIHAD TERRORISM stereotype of a middle eastern Muslim.
Like I said earlier... it'd probably stir up some controversy because Americans think all middle easterners are terrorists or some shit. The show has already gotten in trouble in the past for a couple storylines involving terrorists. Now everything has to have a moral.
Palmer: I can see them killing palmer because he is a black pres. There is no way they would killa a sitting WHITE president. dont kid yourselves.
Personally, I don't really care what they do with Wayne. I hated him in the previous seasons although he's a pretty good president so far all I can think about is unneeded grief he caused David in the 3rd season. What a tool.
Jack: He has always been a fairly buff guy, just because he is 40 doesnt mean hes useless.
Is it me or do they just find the perfect pair of pants for him every season? I don't get how Kiefer can be so ugly, but Jack Bauer can be so hot.
Mylo: Hes just a natural i guess =/
Without a doubt. The shot he took the arm was all for show.
As for the season being the last season, Its altogether possible. Kiefer is the producer of the show, and he said he would kill his own character if need be. However, if that was to happen, there would be no more franchise for 24! Jack's character is falling apart, and if he even survives to the end of this season, he will probably be done for good afterwards. Will Mylo pick up after him? You never know! The 24 franchise is booming, i dont think its been as popular as its been now, so now would be the perfect time to pass the torch to a new bauer.
we can only wait and see.
As far as I know Kiefer has already signed on for 3 more seasons plus a movie (which I think is going to be between the second to last and last season). So unless they run out of story or it gets canceled... we're going to be seeing a lot more 24.
P.S. I really hope you're kidding about the Milo comment. That would run the show straight into the ground. I'd rather see it turn into a supernatural show where Tony and Michelle's ghosts come back and kick some terrorist ass than Milo take over Jack's place.

For real. Jack Bauer is what makes the show. I mean, the story is awesome and all and probably is the real reason it's good... but Jack Bauer is to 24 fans what Chuck Norris was to millinos of 13 year olds around the world. If he croaked, every true fan would be pissed, lose all faith in the show and maybe catch the first bit of the next Jack-less season just to see if it was all a lie.
No Jack Bauer... *shudder*

so true so true. great similarity made by Jack and Chuck... although we all know Jack would clearly win.
If Jack died I would stop watching the show. Possibly the next episode, or the next season, in hopes that it was a trick.

For me, that's really hard to say. Because if Jack died or left or whatever, they would HAVE to bring in another leading actor. So for me, it would depend on who that person was.

Pffft. Explain to them that 24 is on and that if you miss it the psychological trauma suffered will be greater than any review session can fix. Hence, the smartest thing to do would be reschedule.

I've decided not to read what people have posted so far in hopes of 24 not being spoiled for me.
I just recently got season 1 on DVD. Before then, I had never watched an episode. I wanted to, but never could, due to work and activities and such.
I've watched a lot of season 1 just in the past 3 days or so.
IT KICKS ASS.
I think once I am done, I will have to either borrow seasons 2, 3, and 4 from a friend, or buy it myself. I cant get enough.
So yea, I'm posting here now for future reference. Once I get into things some more, I'll come back.
Last night was intense! I watched all the way til the last 10 minutes. Can someone PM me what happened in the last 10 minutes. I was watching all the way up until he planted the bomb into the podium. Someone PLEASE pm me with details!

I'm not sure if I heard this, someone said it or it's what I think (I'm so nuts), but I say it's because he's trying to win Martha back. Or his whole religious act is all one big ploy to blow up the country. What a schmuck!

That's an interesting thought, although I'm not really sure how it would ever get back to Martha about what he's doing right now.
As for Logan's intentions, eh, I really can't tell yet. If I had to guess I would say he's trying to make up for what he did even if it means giving his life, which is what in my opinion his overall goal is (to die trying to help)
Anyway, pretty great episode last night :)

I understand what you're saying, but we can't really assume Logan is going by rational thinking to get himself what he wants. Maybe rational by his standards!

I think that's too easy. With the huge part that he played that seems like a major way to throw away a character. He must has something else up his sleeve.

I really don't know what is going to happen there. I don't know if Palmer is going to necessarily die, but I don't think he's going to make it to the end of the season. As for Assad.. he's either dead or he's going to be one PO'ed ex-terrorist, and that could create a whole other problem. I think that might be interesting to see where that goes. Plus, if he is dead than that means Curtis died for nothing, and that's a thought I like to think isn't true!

Yea... instead of the authorities blaming Assad for trying to kill the president... Assad may think the authorities were just try to kill him. Though he's not a stupid dude... you'd think he'd figure that if they wanted him dead they'd do it in a less damaging way. So, I guess it wouldn't make sense for Assad to think they were after HIM.

Well, Assad's done a lot so far... especially in IDing Gredenko. And don't forget he could have just saved Palmer's life.

Hey there. I'm new to this group, and in fact only started watching 24 this season. It's a great show, and I thought I'd chime in on the current discussion (I will assume at this point that people have seen Monday nights episode, and plus the major part of it has already been discussed).
Anyways, we can't forget Assad's speech to Palmer. Remember the whole "they will come after you" speech? Palmer seems like a pretty smart guy. If he is alive (which, I reckon he is, otherwise that would severely suck), I am sure he wouldn't have forgotten that. Also, like was mentioned, would Assad plant a bomb and then shout "BOMB!" and try to dive away? If he really wanted to do damage, he would've been closer to the President when he did it. I mean, I am sure some people will still try to pin it on him, but hopefully the President realizes it wasn't him.
As for the whole Logan thing, I didn't see any of season 5, and when they showed him initially last week, I was not shocked because I had no idea who he was :P So I can't really comment on that, only things that pertain to this season.

You're right.. why would Assad plant the bomb and it seems stupid for him to be blamed for it, but who else are they going to blame? Even if the plan seems stupid I'm sure they're going to turn on him before they accuse one of their own men. Sadly, it negates everything they were working for, but makes for a good show. If that's even what happens. I always get ahead of myself and my ideas are always wrong.

I have Season 1 at my house (got for someone else), and I think a friend might have the others. Otherwise, I don't really think I will. I mean, I may eventually. It would just take a while to go through 5 other seasons. With a summer break coming up I might see if I can get them.
I've only ever caught up with one show before, and that was LOST, and that was because I only had to catch up for the first season :P But 24 is definitely a show worthy of seeing all of it. I need to know though: Is Jack always as bad-ass as he is in this season?

According to the OP in this thread, they are of similar calibre. I've heard lots of praise for Lost and wouldn object to seeing it from the start.

Hell yes. His bad assery has different degrees and... moods, for lack of a better term. But basically Jack saves everything (as long as he has Chloe for backup).
