Has America gone too far? 2003-04-22 17:14:34 Reply

Why is it that the world seems to revolve around America? Not one day goes by when I have to hear about "what the Americans did". America, America, America.
It's not AmericANS I dislike (although you could stop saying "have a nice day" every minute) It's just that if the US government had it's way, which it frequently does, this whole PLANET would be called america. Did you notice that? I've stopped spelling america with a capital A, and I usually have good grammar, that means I REALLY dislike america.
Why is it that america dictates what happens to the rest of the world? Sure thier government is a "democracy" but it's a dictator to the internationl community.
Why is it that america haven't invaded a western country? Sure they have a go at Korea, Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and plenty more, but the last time the american army set foot on western soil was World War 2, over 60 years ago.
I think that america should just calm down and let other countries have a word in, I mean, america's not even the most developed country.
Do you think that the american government control the planet? If you find any good reasons post them here.

Because the whole worlds economy revolves on what America does.

Yeah we sure turned the world into a craphole, It's not like we are the only reason you all arent communist. You really shouldnt whine about America because you, no matter how much you think you do, no nothing about international affairs compared to what the president knows.

Why is it that america dictates what happens to the rest of the world? Sure thier government is a "democracy" but it's a dictator to the internationl community.

Name one way we dictated what you guys do.

Why is it that america haven't invaded a western country? Sure they have a go at Korea, Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and plenty more, but the last time the american army set foot on western soil was World War 2, over 60 years ago.

Can you name one western country that has had an attack from another country and/or is in turmoil.

I think that america should just calm down and let other countries have a word in, I mean, america's not even the most developed country.

You think thats a good idea? Last time we had a bunch of superpowers it ended up in two world wars and a depression. We may not make the best technology but on the whole we own the best technology, how many japanese people own computers?

Do you think that the american government control the planet? If you find any good reasons post them here.

We may be the biggest military power but we dont interfere with what other countries do. It's also unimformed to think that we but in when it is none of our business because every thing that happens in the world is our business and half the time the countries want us to but in, i.e. egypt, kosovo.

A) Those are not the reasons thatthe US attacks other countries. B) Western countries are pretty much defined as capitalist, US-sided countries.

I think that america should just calm down and let other countries have a word in, I mean, america's not even the most developed country.
You think thats a good idea? Last time we had a bunch of superpowers it ended up in two world wars and a depression.

The depression was not caused by the superpowers. Anyhow, I would prefer many smaller powers then one big one.

Im not going to go too deep into this, because long posts are tedious. the world does NOT revolve around America. the world revolves around MONEY. now, America has all the money, so guess what? the world pays us special attention. they day the american people go broke is the day the US is no longer a super power. (the government's been broke for a long time)

i think half the reason i return to the political forum is just to head-bang with brainwashed USers. Do i think i'll get to chat with a variety of ppl from a decent distribution of asian and east european and middle east and african as well as western countries??

..hmm, not a chance!

I was here for the flash portal, but i can't even afford the U$Dollars for MM software... The site is American owned and run, but it used to epitomize "freedom of speech" or freedom of thought.. but instead npw resembles a PC kindergarden - you're old f*k off, you're anti-american f*k off, you're not in our Club f*k off, you have Experience Pts we can delete - Mwhahaha!

..maybe it's time to take a break again!

Because Western Countries have no oil and because Western Countries fight back. Iraq is easy to invade. They were armed with AK-47s. France or Germany or Belgium even would be fucking hard. The fact is that Western Countries have allies. If the US attacked Belgium tomorrow, France, Germany and the UK would all declare war on the US because of treaties.

Yes and No. They have an amazing amount of power in the world, diplomatically, economically and militarily. However, people are slowly getting pissed off with them and when the entire playground turns against someone, that someone isnt going to win. Even if it is America.

Faaaarrr to oversimplified, and dont think that any country would rush to frances aid if U.S. attacked them, and I'm not just saying that because france likes to act snooty to thier allies.

Who is? And how do you count most developed? Is it like Japan, where everything is robotised?

AS soon as they can find a name for thier TV shows that doesnt have the word awesome or super in it they will be the the most developed country.

Everyone is always pissed off at america but like I said before none of us can comprehend what actually goes on internationally.

Bumcheekcity, you say that if we attacked Belgium we would have France, Germany and the UK declare war on us. Even if that is true, I have yet to see America attack another country without some reason. Even if you use this just to prove a point I want to point out that if we had a reason then we would try to prove this reason to the other countries. Don't forget we also have treaties with these countries and as our allies they would be inclined to either help us or stay neutral. This is all true if we had an acceptable reason.

the US is a world power and will continue to flaunt all of its power everywhere until that changes...

so america will go too far when it begins its downfall... whenever that may be

Very true. America isnt just some international bully trying to take over the world. If we wanted to, we probably could, but why should we? The US government wants people in other countries to live decent lives under just governments. America doesnt attack others unless its trying to protect its own well-being.

America is the greatest nation in the world because we earned it. period. when we fight a war, we fight for all devloping countries. and once again, America drags the rest of the world along, while it kicks and screams, and like a mother, America gives the rest of the world its medicine before the world gets too sick to defend against itself.

we fight the war on terror for you too. how much would you like a 747 being run into Big Ben? or maybe you would like Buckingham Palace?

Yeah, you'renot the only reason "we" aren't all Communist, not that being "communist" is a bad thing.
The type of communism that was there at the time is definately bad, you cant argue that.

Yes I can, but it is besides the point.

Why do you pretend to know something which is unknowable? (ie what the President knows.)
At what point did I even hint that I know what the president knows?

"no nothing about international affairs compared to what the president knows." I think that was the point.

Name one way we dictated what yo guys do.

No you said you, I would assume that I am part of that "you"....thus......us!

The depression was not caused by the superpowers. Anyhow, I would prefer many smaller powers then one big one.
So you would prefer WW1?

WW1 is not the a priori result of there eing many smaller powers.

That is such a lie. Do you not even remember Iran-Contra?

You being part of me as a person or you being part of me as in the whole of something such as a country?

The depression was not caused by the superpowers. Anyhow, I would prefer many smaller powers then one big one.

WW1 is not the a priori result of there eing many smaller powers.

Yes it was, since most of them were militarily equal and all had the same international power they felt insecure and built up treaties for thier protection.

That is such a lie. Do you not even remember Iran-Contra?

You what? Are we talking about a different America? The America that gives the third-world one dollar worth of medicine for every 4 dollars it pays back? The America that fights wars for developing countries then does nothing to stop corporate businesses exploiting children?

Which America is this?

Ideally, Buckingham Palace. I'd be VERY pissed off, but I knew the UK as a country deserved it. The people that dies didnt, but the fact remains that those people were killed by hypocracy, not planes.

MY ASS!!! those people (in the pentagon) were killed by terrorists. Guns dont kill people, planes dont kill people, hypocrasy doesnt kill people, PEOPLE kill PEOPLE. Has anyone ever died from a bad case of hypocrasy? I think not. We may be asshole Americans to you, but only criminals and soldiers should die like the victims of 911 died, not civilians. If one more person says "dont judge the terrorists, they were only retaliating unfair economic treatment" Im going to get a visa and end up in a foreign jail for things Id rather not talk about.(involves cars with lights on , and not the bobbies, I can tell you that much)

Superiority. I look at some of the messages here and I feel convinced we're not trying to take over the world. We already have!!

The US government wants people in other countries to live decent lives under just governments.

i.e. US selected. Americanized countries rather than independant countries. Dictatorship at its finest.

America doesnt attack others unless its trying to protect its own well-being.

Is that how they describe the aquisition of Iraqi oil?

It's great to see so many responses, and most of you have very good points, and very funny ones.

Anyway, the reason why I posted was to bring another point up. If america dosen't control the world, why the hell do they have 200+ sattilites orbiting the earth? They spy on what we do because they feel they have a right to control us, be we don't want their 'help'.

Yes america is like sombodies MUM. They nag and nag at you and if they see you doing anything they don't like then they stop us and remove the means of us doing it again. At least when Britan was a superpower, France, Germany, Spain and Portugal were.

And another thing, I'm really pissed at why you took OUR national anthem and turned it into an american nationalist song. Why the hell did you do that? Were you too lazy to write a tune yourself?

Besides, the american government don't want us to know what's going on inside the whitehouse because they are ARROGANT. They think we have no right to know the tiniest detail. At least the house of commons has cameras. They might also be hiding the plans of the next middle-eastern war.

america controlls the world, because we invented a bunch of cool shit everyone wants to buy from us. If you dont want to live in an American dominated world, invent some cool shit yourself. The japanese did, and we dont fuck with them anymore, do we? no, we kiss their ass, they kiss ours, and we trade a bunch of cool ass shit around. everybody wins. I wish more countries could be like Japan and the US, but theyre all too damn lazy. (yeah, its sloppy)
