I watched part of a channel 4 educational program before I headed out to work today. In it there was an interview with some self-riteous, uppity bint called Kierra Box. Anyone heard of her?
In this interview, she actually said:
"If youre going to be apathetic, then you might as well be dead"
So because not everyone is as pissed off at the state as you (learn the rules, beatnik) and arent up in arms every time the government makes a decision you dont agree with, we should all commit suicide? You were given the vote to let the government know your position. Use it, dont go around inciteing demos and marches cause you have inadequacy issues.
Let the riot squad loose on any march or demo faturing this bint.

If you're going to be hateful and have no opinions whatsoever (yet find a way to be hateful towards somebody for giving good advice), you'd better be dead.
Propaganda is to a Democracy what violence is to a Dictatorship
Never underestimate the significance of "significant."

Activists can go and say whatever they want, I don't care.
The words they cannot say however are ones that threaten the President's safety like "I'm going to stab him" or something. It would be the same as threatening any other American citizen and that IS taken seriously.
For the sake of their rallies I suggest they be non-violent as much as possible as a big crowd turning into mob rule is not a pretty sight. There have heard several incidents where they've busted shit like usual mobs do, (to really no surprise to me since it is a large gathering of people). Of course its usually done on someone else's private property and the media won't show it cause they got other things to do than show the grievances of hard-working Americans.
It's funny that they say their views are being suppressed, I tend not to think so, since we hear about their stuff all the time and yet again I don't care just don't injure somebody. I have no clue why so many of them are paranoid that Bush is gonna do something dangerous on them, personally I think he's doing a lot of sucking up to them as much as possible without rescinding his own actions. They write about big militias forming and putting them down which doesn't really make sense cause no one gives a damn what they do as long as its non-violent. Normal people tend to not give a damn what another person is doing unless they are looking to get something out of it.
Lastly, I leave the activist with one last thought.. After all your tribulations and attempts don't be too pissed if things don't go the way you want to. Shit, a lot of things in life don't go the way anyone would want them, but we still go forward.

Way to not have an opinion.
You can be an activist for anything. In fact, your considered an activist for making this thread. Therefore you're a hypocrite.

I think I know who you mean - long blonde hair, face that looks like it's been run over by a truck?
Anyway, I find student activists to be the worst of them. They'll jump on whatever left wing cause but as soon as they graduate they'll be more than happy to suck on the teat of big business. Fucking hypocrits.

Actually, the woman had a bit of a point. She's not saying that you have to care about her cause at all, but just being active towards some cause is what's important, and far too many people would rather sit around and bitch rather than do something about a cause.. and it doesn't even have to be as major as what she probably does.

Activists keep governments honest (or as close to honest as possible).
Injured Workers rights were taken away in the 1920's by an insurance company (WCB), it's high time we got them back.

apathy is not a good thing. the more the public become apathetic the more the "powers that be" can fuck with you. Go ahead be apathetic (god knows i am) but is it wrong for someone to want change?

Its not wrong for someone to want to change, even encourage people to be more active, but to tell them that they may as well be dead if theyre not willing to go out and take up a cause? Granted they will be few in number, but what about the people that are happy with the country. The people who think that everything is ticking over just nicely enough for now.
Loch Ness Monster - thats another good point. The activists that are only so vocal about things because they think its what they should be doing because of friends / coursemates / pop culture / whatever, not because its what they believe.
InsertFunnyUsername - I am not a hypocrite. I made a NG thread to put forward my view on pushy activists. That is not the same as being one. I think theyd be pretty ticked off that youd compared the two!
Some posters seem to have the idea that Im against free speech. Im not. Im against pushy protestors that think they are always in the right, and expect you to take up their cause as well. When the UK followed the US into Iraq, there were mass protests in almost every city. Can you imagine what would happen if a small number of people excersised their right to free speech and made pro-war statements? Theyd get a new one torn! Hardly free speech, is it?

I guess Martin Luther King Jr. was wrong for challenging the government.

Did Martin Luther King Jr. say "take up a cause or die"? No.

The longer someone sits idly by, the more wool someone can bring down over their eyes. People get complacent and people get tricked. But, sitting by because you don't give a damn and calling bullshit when you see it is something else.

Was she at all attractive? And i think she can't say crap cause she probably has three or more writers backing her and she reads off a teleprompter. Or she stole her political views from people she hangs out with to sound smart.

She doesnt have a true cause anymore so shes willing to go cause trouble wherever she finds it. Bint

i'm apathetic due to anti-depressants and general lack of interest, I strongly disagree with the woman, she is nothing, a mere speck upon the cosmos therefor she has no right to pass judgement on others.
