scribblecel.fla (Flash 7)
Credit goes to Adam Phillips for this trick: The legendary scribble cel. It's used to animate water surface reflections very quickly and effectively. It's the most useful and easiest trick I've posted so far.
I wrote an article on it here. Go read it now.
As informative as that article is, I'm going to take it one step further and show you how I've refined the technique to make an even better scribble cel.
The secret to the perfect scribble cel is... don't use a scribble.
Use lines. Wavy lines. If you use lines, you can fit way more glints into a smaller amount of space, without messing up the scribble cel.
Don't actually DRAW the wavy lines. Just make a simple square out of lines, as shown in the picture. Then select them all, go to the properties panel, and change the "style" into type: ragged. Mess around with the other options too. And there you have your superior scribble.
If you haven't read the article yet, go do that, or you won't know what to do with it.
This is the last one of these I'm going to for for awhile. It takes too much time to put these together, and I have a lot of real work to do.
