The British empire was a major world power until the end of WW2 and we beat them over 200 years ago so you can't compare beating the British 200 years ago to fighting an emrging superpower. Anyway the only advantage the Chinese have is a larger number of troops than the US does. Fortunately for the US our superiority in pretty much every aspect of modern warfare would win us the war.

I think that the United States should seek foreign labor elsewhere. We have an enormous trade deficit with China. If the Soviet Union were still around and not trying to kill us, we could open the door to trade and turn a blind eye to their human rights violations just like we do with China. I don't think our trade deficit will start a war with China. If tensions between the two were to escalate, it certainly would be one of the justifications for war, but it wouldn't be the sole answer.

Seriously though, If a war ever really occured and American foot would never set food in China.

There would be no need.

If you look at any demographic map of China. Since the far majority of the population lives on the seacoast, Ground troops would be unneeded to put down any attack.

Naval ships would be able to stay of the coast due to China's laughable Navy and bombers and other strike planes would have the freedom of the skies and the ground, mainly due to China using outdated russain plane models(mainly Mig 22's.)

Past that, the US could just conduct bombing raids untill the people's will is felt by the Chinese government and the attacks stop.

Now you did your research, It could end much easier with a Nuke but we can never use it and we also have other good weapons that we could never use. also we dont need china for cheap labor my friends we have the Mexicans, they work for pennies on a dollar so china is not that important also think about it whoo has more allies.

Think of it 100,000s of sampans transporting the 2 million strong PLA across the Pacific, while our superior navy destroys every last one of them while being brodcast live on CNN. The U.S would never come close to China and vice versa. Economically the U.S relys on China and if China goes the U.S might collapse or have a good series of revolts. Exactly, I don't see why everyone thinks there has to be a war just because China is on the rise. Unless the US initiates hostilities, the switchover of power should be relatively peaceful

Somehow i doubt China will surpass the US as superpower (though it may be a equals thing, similar to US and UUSR situation).

Also, the people wh say China will be caught uop in 10-20 years in military, guess what? The US would also advance, and while China would be where US was, US would once again be on top.

IT would be completely different the main reason we are having a problem in Iraq is because we are trying to keep the government going we are playing big brother protecting the people wile they fight amongst each other. in Iraq there are lots of different tribes and even amongst the same tribes they are killing each other for more control Sunni-vs Sunni, shiite-vs shiite, the freaking al-quida, Taliban, and bathist party, all fighting instead of creating a place to raise their family's.

ALSO Vietnam was another example were we were not able to do what we needed to do to win, other than some unofficial bombing in the north we were not allowed to invade we were supposed to stay on our side of the DMZ, and protect The south. Actually, China is more reliant on the US than the US is on China. I'm sick of hearing that crap, I'm sure you just heard some big number that represented the amount of money worth of goods the US gets from China, but you probably were never given context to understand the actual issue.

The US does get very large amount of products from China, but this is just because the US is huge and consumes alot. Meanwhile, the portion of our economy that depends on China in absolute terms is small compared to both our domestic economy and our trade relationship with other nations.

Almost all of China's economy revolves directly or indirectly around the US. They need America's permission to access stock markets, banking systems, and trade organizations that pretty much are all controlled by the US.

Meanwhile, in actual terms, Canada and Mexico individually are both more important to the US economically than China is.

Right now, in the current scheme of things, if the US wanted to, it could completely destroy China economically (and militarily I must add). China could hurt the US in the process, but the US would survive, and China would collapse.
