I'm going to hope/guess thatwhen you say glitch, you are only referring to the shit that sounds like someone took a cheesegrater to the back of a cd. And as for random sounds.. they can be used quite well.. (Ex: Aphex Twin.)

Aphex Twin does do it very well, they're a good example of how to do glitch without the explosive shit.

There are certain types of music that I really can't stand, but I just choose not to listen to them. I can agree with some of your statements Solus, but instead of ranting I tend to inform the artists about what they're doing right and wrong without insulting them. A lot of these people you are talking about (at least I get the hint of) are amatures, so you really can't expect a great deal of musical enjoyment from them.

I've also found out that to understand and appriciate different styles of music, you have to surround yourself with them and try to create some of your own in that style. I used to think drum n' bass was just a mess of synths that sounded like squeaks and grunts, but now since I've experimented with it, I understand how hard it is to achieve the sound. I try the same thing with many other genres, there's a lot of good in some that you wouldn't expect. ;) I like a lot of different styles of music now, and I try to keep and open mind with them all.

I enjoy your music and can understand the effort you put into it, a lot more that other artists for sure. Just realize that music is supposed to be an art, not a war.

Try not to take any of this to offense, because I'm just stating my opinion.

Nono, the "tastes differ" argument isn't countering Solus at all. It's not only a matter of taste. Some music is utter crap, period, just because it's badly made. If you don't agree, you haven't been listening to a lot of the Portal yet. Most things Solus said apply to all music that is crap by definition, not by semi-popular opinion.

Firstly, I think he was referring more to the electronica that's located in our audio portal. Obviously, professionals in the field don't suffer AS MUCH of the same disease of unoriginality as some things in NG.

Secondly, I can very much agree with most of what he said, and I'm 24 years old with almost 11 years of composing various genres of music under my belt. Personally, I'm very against the use of drum loops. Drum parts are so much more fun to make yourself, and there are some things you can do with them that sound very new.

My opinion on how to do electronica is to have your rhythm, and even if you want it to keep consistent throughout the whole piece, at least change up the instruments to where some drop out or come back in or a change in melody; something to keep the song from getting mundane and drug out.
