in short "mental illnesses" are lies made up to get away with your weaknesses.

You win for biggest retard ever. Swearing tourettes is actually the least common kinds of tourettes dumbass. Dyslexia is when you transpose letters or entire words so they appear different, like b, d, p, and q can all look similar. Entire words may also be backwards like bird is seen as drib.

Sure some diseases are exaggerated, but there are definitely people that have it.

Maybe the whoel emo hate thing has gone to your head? People have real problems and just because you're a sheltered little kid doesn't mean they're not there for other people.

Okay, but some people can deal with it and just move on. People who cry about it are weak people.
My mom was sexually abused by my uncle when she was 11 years old. She's not "depressed", she doesn't cry every night and she has a pretty successful life free from any anti-depressant drugs.

I wish people would get some fucking real problems to cry about. If you lived in a third world country and had to walk three miles back and forth just to have clean drinking water, then go ahead and kill yourself, your life sucks anyway. The only reason why so many people come out with mental disorders these days is because it's so god damn socially acceptable.

"Dislexia- It's not an illness, you're just a shit speller."

Before I say anything else, I just want to point out that incorrectly spelled dyslexia.

Secondly, Tourette's syndrome is NOT when people "like to swear". Are you kidding me? Have you even known anyone with Tourette's? People with Tourette's have verbal ticks, sort of like a seizure and a stutter, as in, they say something and then can't stop saying it, or they make sounds or scream involuntarily. The Tourette's Guy should not considered and academic source.

For all of you that want to say that "mental illnesses are ways to get away with your weaknesses", I want to say this: you all need a serious reality check. I mean really, you can't just go around convincing other people about the garbage you believe. Facts gained from credible sources are the only information you need to be spreading, and especially the only information you need to be defending. This is the kind of stuff that gets people killed, they get some radical idea and do not accept any other way of thinking.

Let me ask you this in short:
Would you trust an Eighth Grader to diagnose you with ANY disease?

Why would you give them expertise in it then?

Yeah, there are genuine philological causes behind most mental illnesses. Just because some people who don't have actual mental illnesses get misdiagnosed doesn't mean that mental illness is fake.

you dont know what depression is, you cant get the hopeless feel off your mind and you want it gone, you want to be some other place or time or just plain get rid of it

iver never had, except when its drug induced, and that brings me back to the one time where i slept at a firends house when i was young and their parents made me sleep early and i was like "fuck i wish i was at my house"

i guess i havent been exposed to depressing things that much. but i read up about how i can possibly never suffer from depression because of something

Depression is a chemical imbalance. The only point that can really be made disproving any mental disorder is that how they are diagnosed is not as scientific as diagnosing something like influenza.

This is wrong! If you have even bothered to read my previous post you would know that depression is a choice, as stated from a qualified psychiatrist! Moreover, I have personally observed that the irritating " I'm so depressed and am diagnosed" type people often start acting more normal quite suddenly after they are largely ignored for acting like dumbasses. You should get your own facts straight before spewing your uneducated opinions pal.

What ISN'T a disease these days?
You don't act a very specific and defined way and you have some sort of disorder. You're hyper, you have ADD, you can't spell good, you have Dyslexia, etc. etc. etc.
WHAT HAPPENED TO PERSONALITY? Everybody is different, that doesn't mean they have a disorder.
Give me real hard proof that there is something physically different in somebody with ADD or Dyslexia and I'll shut up, I'm serious.
I'm not talking about diseases like down syndrome where you have an extra chromosome or things of that nature, those are real. People can't fake stuff like that, but when an otherwise completely healthy person has a slight difference than what is "normal", that is not a disorder. That's how they are.

And now suddenly I'm an asshole, because I don't respect the fact that someone is so sensitive that they'll commit suicide. Suicide is just plain selfish, it's a permanent "solution" to a temporary problem. Also, this thread is a joke and I'm not being serious about anything inside of it, I just wanted to see how many people would actually read it. We all have little things that bother us in life, just because you're convinced your serotonin levels are messed up doesn't mean you have to try to prove something to society by becoming another "teen suicide" statistic.

I don't know, people like that just piss me off. What do you guys think?

I skipped the most important sentence in the entire post the first time I read that.

GOD!

You really have convinced me though now, I take back everything I said. You are right, and I agree with you.

You are, just because many people self-diagnose themselves that doesn't mean that there aren't people with authentic problems. One of my best college buddies has clinical depression. Even on meds he isn't a happy chappy.
