This has got to be one of the most depressing things I've read 'round the forum. Probably because it's mostly true.
From what I've seen, aimlessly browsing through some of the 3 or 4 year old topics, there's at least 20 or 30 regulars who spent a great deal of time on this site, who were part of a group of old regs, who pretty much owned the place...that I'll never be able to get to know, because they're practically all gone. Moved on, as it were. It actually saddens me a bit.
It seems that the NG BBS I'm in now is simply the remnant of a once far greater place to hang out. The few regulars that drop by once in a while are now coming by less and less frequently (hell, I think even I remember there being more of 'em around here, when I signed up...which wasn't all that much time ago, really), and they seem to be losing the will to stick around. New "secret" sites and clubs for Regs are being formed away from here, and us newbies and unknown users are slowly getting abandoned by the people that seem to be really fun and cool. Everyone seems to have noticed that fewer and fewer truly enjoyable threads are being made around the place.
More saddening is what might happen in a while: if the few Regulars that remain decide to leave the site as well, what then? Will the BBS be left as an empty shell, or will the newer users try to fill the gaps as well as they can?
