The media is just making a big deal out of him because all of a sudden he's this huge political star with a name like 'Barack Hussein Obama.' To make it worse, he's only been on the political stage for what? 2 years? And now he's a democratic front runner for the presidency.
Obviously the national and local medias are going to have a field day on him.

I'll bet the Rednecks have their shotguns loaded already.
Strange that the only channel they get on their beat up TV antennae seems to be FOX.

Quite true. It's a matter of being critical of what you're seeing and separating the facts from the fabrication. This applies to any news media source, whether that be FOX News or the Village Voice.

oh no! he was raised as a Muslim! we can't have that.
what i find disturbing is the prejudice expressed more than the bias of Fox news. what the hell is it supposed to matter what religion he was and that he doesn't attend church regularly? the current state of US racial/political stands are rather unnerving.

Funny, FOX news is the most popular News channel in the entire US (and even parts of Canada).
I love it how fucking morons like you focus all your attention on FOX. You're so used to the typical liberal biased CNN, NBC, ABC and so forth that you actually think only FOX relatively biased by comparison. When actually, FOX news only APPEARS that way because misinformed, uneducated dipshits like only want to hear News that echoes your own bias.
All news are biased, in fact the owners of CNN (Ted Turner) was the largest single donator to the Democratic party in the 04 elections. And you think CNN isn't biased compared to FOX?
Get a fucking glimpse of reality for once.

Fox is quite biased, you must realize this. I'm not denying that the other news programs are biased as well, as they all are (anything which allows Olbermann to speak on their network MUST be biased), but FOX is biased.

Most of the news channels in America (YES, THIS MEANS CNN TOO) lean to the political right, Fox News just leans more so.

I do watch the BBC, and I have witnessed there ridiculous bias.
For example they replayed an Al-jazeera version of a video taken by US marines in Iraq. The Al-jazeera video was obviously edited for proaganda effect and the BBC didn't even mention the fact that the video was not only cut in length but obviously edited. They didn't even mention that there was a different version, they just agreed that Marines committed an atrocity.
In the REAL version, The marines chased down car full of insurgents after the insurgents shot at them. The marines chase them in the Humvee, shoot the insurgent car with the machine gun until the car gets out of sight, then when the Marines turn the corner into a civilian area the car they were chasing stopped and the insurgents run down an alley. The Marines kill one of them, and the other insurgents others run off.
Then after the humvee stops, a Marine goes out and leans over the dead insurgent to check him for weapons, then hes told to get back into the Humvee by the driver. And you hear the driver contact his commanding officer to report what happened.
But in the AL-Jazeera version, the part where the Marines get shot at first is taken out. So it just starts out with marines driving down the road shooting at a car they are chasing for seemingly no reason. Then when the marines kill the fleeing man (that Al-Jazeera reported was an innocent civilian) and the Marine gets out and stands above the dead man, the Al Jazeera version added gun shot sounds to make it appear as if the Marine killed a wounded man.
Now the fact that the BBC didn't even mention the other version shows that they have no care for the truth or for reporting both sides of the story. They actually facilitated Al Jazeera and insurgent propaganda just in order to demonise American troops.
See original version here 1:26 seconds into it you'll notice the Marine standing above the dead insurgent, and you notice that he DOES NOT shoot him again.
But in the Al Jazeera video that was re-aired on BBC, you will hear 2 gun shots while the Marine is in the same spot.
The fact that BBC didn't mention the other version shows they don't give a fucking about truth or accuracy. They have an anti-Iraq war, anti-America bias so they willingly broadcast edited Jihadi propaganda.
Now I can't find a link to the Al-Jazeera version. But I guess you'll have to take my word for it until I do.

Fox news and Cnn are biased in their own respect, CNN often makes coments which could be described as subliminal support or praisal for being African american; and the possibility that he could be the first black president. Fox news leans the other way, making snickering comments which place Obamas past in a negative light.
Now According to obama, the common ground seems to be he really cared little for the muslim religon, ASUMING this is true, both fox news and CNN are commenting on something that should really play little role in obamas opinions.
Obama should spend more time in the senate if he wants to become president, that is my opinion. He should vote on what he feels is right, and he's strong enough in his beleifs he should have little problem getting support from his current supporters, as well as getting americans to side with his point of veiw. As i beleive, my philosophy is this, if you have an opinion that you feel is strong enough, you should feel just as strongly that you DO have the potential to convince SOME people [usually moderates] that your right in a respectable fashion.
of course this is wishfull thinking on the part of any politiion.

CNN's rightward leanings tend to show in their coverage of the war in Iraq more than anything. Mainly, I find that CNN lacks the testicular fortitude to be openly critical of the government, much like the rest of the American media.
If you'd ever watched CBC's coverage of Canadian politics, you'd understand.

That's one of the many flaws of freedom, it gives people the right to cause fear in a country, almost like a bunch of people widdling away at the base of a collumn, not because they want it to fall, but because they want to get people's attention.

What CBC's name should stand for = Communist Broadcasting Centre.

It seems to me that whenever people support a political figure who is a liberal and a minority, someone always attacks them claiming they support his just because he's a minority. He has some good ideas. He may not have much experience, but he seems a hell of a lot better than a vast majority of the other choices. Don't pull that "It's only for political correctness" argument, it's annoying and presumptuous

But CNN's biggest problem is not that of right/left leaning, it is is that it, like almost all major news services like Fox and MSNBC, carries a corporate bias. They are going to show what will make them money, what will get people to watch them, regardless of the actual importance.

Seriously, I watch the BBC all the time and I've never heard it make any claims like that one...
Still, Channel 4 is better, for world coverage at least. BBC lacks substance.
