Scotland I could see wanting that...but ENGLAND?? They're pretty much the reason it's called the United Kingdom to begin with because they subjugated Ireland and Scotland.

Yah, I know a bit about it. I'll probably patronise you a bit, because I'm not sure how much you know.

Scotland is run by a proportional representation system, meaning that no party is likely to win an outright majority (above 50% of the vote). Consequently, parties have to agree to compromise. At the moment, Labour and the Lib Dems are working together to see off the Conservatives.

The Scottish National Party (SNP) run by Alec Salmon is rapidly gaining the popular vote, so much so that people theorise that in the next Scottish elections (May or June I think, but I can't be bothered to do the legwork - if its not in Wikipedia, it doesn't exist) the SNP could get enough votes to get the Tories into a coilition with them, in exchange for declaring Scotland independant of Britain

There are several reasons why they might want to do this; at the moment, the constitution says that the Scottish assembly cannot make desisions regarding defence (so Scotland had to invade Iraq with Britain) or vary interests rates by more than 3 pence to the pound (so Scotland will be hit by the inflation which is going to affect Britain). It also gives Scotland control over the North sea oil.

There are a number of good reasons why Scotland might not want to do this, WARNING: Heavy bias coming up like the fact it will effectively bankrupt them, they are totally incapable of running their own country, as seen by the SA building controversy, they will massively devalue their own currency by joining the Euro, and they will have to call a nationwide election more or less as soon as the SNP come to power, since single issue parties are classically unable to govern for any length of time.

Finally, an interesting point is this: Gordon Brown has a Scottish seat. If Scotland becomes independant, Brown will not be allowed to govern Britain, unless another Labour MP retires, and gives Brown his seat.

Obviously, the arguments are more complex than this, but I hope that helps

Thats what All the fuckin Scottish would like you to think.

In actuall fact It was A Scottish King who United the crowns of England an Scotland.
Scottish people have never been treated as second class citizens to the English. They have always had the same rights. Unlike Ireland who was invaded and treated like shit by the English (and scottish)

Scotland don't really have a right to hate the English but they continuly do.

Look how many scots run the country. The Scottish have more rights than the rest of the UK because all they do is fuckin whine.

I want the UK to Break up. I hope Northen Ireland gets united with the republic I hope wales does well on It's own and I hope all the Scottish wankers who do nothing but complain about being British an complain about the UK fuckin kill each other with there stanleys.
