Sick of Cheaters

I've noticed some people stay at the top of the charts regardless of what happens. for the past like 2 months, the ambient page has been a battlefield and i noticed that the user thenewgillenium ALWAYS returns to the top. at first i didnt notice it, but when my songs get hit hard along with everyone else and his go up, i got suspicious. recently, all of his songs were under 3.5, since another genius decided to bomb the page again. i noted that none of his songs were above 3.8, and here it is, 3 days later and his songs are above 4. im not trying to be an ass here, but cmon! using alts much?

well I think they use IP tracking for votes so you can't vote on the same PC twice regardless of alt's. That sounds like proxy voting, constantly changing one's IP address. THEN he can use alts to keep voting up/voting down other peoples stuff.

1. Use pharagraps and capitals more.
2. The votes are IP tracked; you can't vote for anything with an alt using the same computer, and I highly doubt he is using all the computer in his neighbourhood and farther out.
It's possibly his steadily incoming new fans.

Entirely untrue. With dialup you change your ip every time you log on, and it's really not very hard to get an ip mask for your computer so you can be whatever address you want.

SolusLunes is right....i had a Dial Up before..and my IP changed everytime i get connected...and now i have ADSL by modem..and my IP still changes everytime i get connected..anyway...i don't think the votes are IP Tracked....i think they are USER tracked...cuz i search for that fail..and i change my ip but doesn't aloud me to vote twice on the same song with different's IP's...so the votes are USER TRACKED i think...anyway..i could do some new accounts and VOTE 1 to everyone on the top of the list and vote 5 for my songs....

we all know here that the score systems sucks =(...hope the redesign fix it...

It's true, the votes are also user tracked. You would have to make a new alt for every new vote, however, you need to change both the alt and the IP to make the vote. Because I can vote on my songs from this IP address, but if I tried to vote on them with an alt from the same IP, I can't vote for it. Same goes for if I try to vote with the same username, just on different IPs. They track both. It's a good system.

Actually, there is a way to do it with IP masking. I don't remember the exact way because I've never done it, but artists have done it in the past and some had their accounts banned as a result. I won't mention any names, though.

Oh, get over it. This is newgrounds. I mean seriously that's kind of something you should be aware of before submitting. This place is filled with loyal fan boys and girls that only keep the major ng artists at the top. I felt the same way I guess at one point but really it doesn't matter. This is no where near a professional audio site. Just keep submitting.

Same difference, HouseMasta. What do you expect us to do? Most people are hit way harder by this kind of stuff than you are. If you feel it's this much a problem, try solving it yourself before complaining on the BBS.

Why don't you PM that guy and tell him politely that you think he's using alts to vote his songs up. Also tell him that people have had their accounts deleted for that in the past.

To be frank, his music deserves high scores. So I don't find it at all hard to believe that his scores come from different people. Check if there's a reason for badmouthing him first.

I know what you mean. There seems to have been a little bit of a zero voting spree on all the popular catagories - I've seen a lot of my tracks fall into oblivion.

Jesus christ stop complaining man, your own music is actually higher rated for some mysterious reason. And many people have been banned for using alt accounts. He would be gone already if he was doing it as heavily as you say.

This isn't news to any of us but it is important there is no solution to it. The website is the way it is if people vote five or zero its up to them. Maybe it's because NewGillenium's music has been voted on so many times, that a single zero vote will hardly damage the score. Take my James Bond metalized song for egsample. If you vote zero or five on it, the score won't budge at all because so many people have voted on it. NewGillenium has probably got alot of fans that's all.

I don't know what the big deal is? What's so important about being at the top? The only thing I care about is that if people are going to say anything negative about my work that they supply a good detailed reason.

If anyone's cheating on their votes, it only proves how insecure and immature they are.

I don't cheat, people! If you've read my replies to reviews, you'll understand that I don't particularly like to be at the top of the list. I like it that people download and vote and review on a regular basis for me, but in the end, people on this site are so paranoid that people with higher scores are hated. I don't want to be hated. Here's how it is - I submit, I save my 5 vote for when my song gets zeroed (I get zeroed almost immediately), I vote 5. My girlfriend has an NG account. Sometime during the week, she'll five it. I advertise on sites like garageband, icompositions, myspace(I have two myspace pages), my own personal website, my college website. I tell my friends and my fans... and that's it. Frankily, people have been accusing me of cheating for about 2 years, and I'd have to have voted on like... a million computers. I'm really sick of it, and I can't believe I had to type a PR paragraph...

Geez, HouseMasta, all you had to do was message me about this instead of smearing me. If you need proof that I'm not a cheater, I could've fived your music and given you reviews.
