I just have to ask; by repeatedly not taking the hint and replying, are you waving, or are you drowning?

Your desperation to get the last word, even if you used both your remotely decent insults two weeks ago, and you're humiliating yourself in public by continuing in your quest for...for...WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE, BALSAC?
Either way, it astounds me.

Tie between Jackson and Bush. If you look in your handy history texts there are many similarities. It's just that Jackson didn't have the massive and efficient weapons of the modern age. He did almost manage to wipe out some civilized peoples.

I would say that the worst presidents are:
Bush Sr.: Taxes
Nixon: Water Gate
Jackson: Trail of Tears
Bush: lies, being an idiot, stupidity, daddy's boy

You're replying to something said almost a year ago. It is possible for opinions to change in that amount of time. A year ago, I didn't have a verdict on him because there was still time then for him to improve.... he didn't do that. In fact, he made things worse. Not in the economy (I'm referring to between last year at this time and now, not the overall 4 years) as that was either stable or had some improvement, but Iraq was clear that it was a mistake. We know that Bush isn't for equality as proven in his need to have a gay marriage prohibition admendment. We know that the deficit got worse between last year at this time and now. But does this mean he's the worst president? I still think it's tough for me to decide who was worse. Carter or Bush? Bush is among the worst, but my conclusions aren't clear enough for me to call him THE worst.

That's because he isn't the worst we've ever had, if you don't agree with him, that's one thing, but worst president in history? I doubt that.

Which goes to show that no matter how good a president is, there will always be some faults.

I still contend Bush to be among the worst, but I'm not well versed enough on presidents before Carter to say confidently that he's THE worst.

My five bottom presidents:
#5. Grant. U.S. Grant was a excellent civil war general, but he had no political qualifications whatsoever. Grant, who was born a democrat but nominated by republicans, won simply by "waving the bloody shirt", an appeal to the heroes of the Civil War.
The Spoils system grew during this "gilded age" and ultimately resulted in the Death of President Garfield.
#4. Buchanan. Buchanan was a colorless president, who gets this low mark because of his failure to resolve the greatest crisis in the history of the USA-- secession, over slavery. Lincoln won the fight through force, but Buchanan ultimately presided over a divided democratic party and let the states go their different ways.
#3. Harding. Elected on the wings of the non-interventionalist movement, Harding faced huge scandals, such as Teapot Dome and Credit-Mobiler, and his 'friends' screwed him over to become the most scandal ridden president in history.
#2. Bush, Jr. Bush's credentials are thin and unimpressive: an AWOL pilot, a businessman whose company nearly went bankrupt twice, and governor of Texas.
Although the Bush administration is absent the large scale scandals of other administrations, Bush has created serious, greivous errors in Office: War in Iraq, without proper intelligence in the Name of National Security (while it breeds terrorists), the loss of foreign support from the high mark of 9-11, to the rampant anti-americanism today, turning Clinton's record surplus into record deficits, and a desire to modify the consitution of the USA to deny rights to its citizens (gay-marriage ban).
#1. Nixon. Nixon expanded the Vietnam war into Cambodia, unaccountably. His committee to re-elect the president (CREEP), destroyed McGovern's campaign. Nixon's agents broke into the democratic party HQ, to steal and plant information. Under intense public scrutiny, Nixon fired his attorney general, had his vice president resign, and ultimately resigned himself.
--I go so far as to say that while every election has some skirting around the corners in terms of popular support, Nixons reelection can only be considered blanantly illegal and immoral.
While Bush is still in office, I can not help but believe that history will say that he was not a great president, he was not a average president, he was a total moron.

Jacksons campaigns against the indians are regrettable, but abuses against the indians are even more serious after the civil war against the plains indians.
